I may be new to this website, but I am not new to caring for animals. I have been a lover of animals my entire life and I have cared for a variety of them throughout my life, including but not limited to rabbits, guinea pigs, frogs, dogs, and cats. I love spending my days caring for them. In my opinion, It's the best job ever! I treat every pet like they were my own -- with lots of hugs and kisses. I make sure they have everything they need to be comfortable and happy. I even take time to give attention to other pets the client may have that they aren't paying me for. For example, this one client I have has a dog that I walk, but he also has a horse. So, every time I do a dog walk for him, I always take the time to go down to the stable and pet his horse and feed him an apple (of course with the owner's permission). I do this just because of my love for all animals! I have worked and volunteered at many animal shelters and worked for a pet sitting company. I am also a certified dog trainer and I believe in using only positive reinforcement when helping dogs learn how to be obedient or when teaching tricks. While working at the animal shelter, I socialized the dogs in order to help improve their manners around people and other dogs. I bathed and groomed cats and dogs to get them ready for adoption events, and at these events, I greeted the prospective adopters and assisted them in choosing a dog or cat that was suitable for their family and lifestyle. At the shelter, I also assisted with the intake and adoption of animals. I utilized safe restraining techniques to ensure the safety of pets, clients, and co-workers. I also have experience caring for sick animals such as those with diabetes, cancer, Cushing's, abscesses, and thyroid issues, just to name a few. I am able to administer various medications to them both orally and intravenously. I will also take a sick animal to the vet if there is an emergency and after I have notified the owner and he or she approves it. My experience as a dog walker and pet/house sitter includes providing the care that is requested by the owners. These services usually include a 30 minute visit where I take the dog (or dogs) out on a walk and I ensure their safety and security by being very aware and observant of our surroundings and ensure that the collar/harness and leash are on properly. Or, if the owner would rather not have their pet walked, I would stay inside or in the yard and play with him or her. I give the pets lots of love and affection and make them feel safe and comfortable. I always give them fresh water, and if requested by owner, I will feed them also. When taking care of cats or other small animals such as rabbits, I clean out their cages and scoop litter boxes. Then I replace with new bedding, more litter, or whatever else is needed. I give them lots of love and attention as well. During overnight visits, I will show up at the owner's house in the evening at an agreed upon time frame and feed their pet (or pets), give them fresh water, take them out for a walk or give them yard time so they can go to the bathroom. Then, I will spend quiet time and/or play time with them before we fall asleep. In the morning, I feed them and give them fresh water and take them out to go to the bathroom. If they require medications, I will make sure they get them as well. I will also bring in the mail, water plants, and I make sure that the house is as clean as it was when I got there or cleaner. I will also clean up any accidents that may occur such as peeing, pooping, vomiting, or diarrhea. In addition, I respect the client's privacy by not touching anything or going anywhere in their home without their permission.
