We "Sit" So Your Pet Can "Stay"

Pet care experience

Your fur-kid will stay in our home in the country and have a great time while you are away. Our home is very dog friendly and safe. Your fur kid can relax on our day bed (just for the guests) or couch or any of the many dog beds provided. They usually follow us around wherever we happen to be. They are cozy inside our home but can also relax on our screened in porch during nice weather or sun bathe on the deck. You fur kid has a good time while you are away. There is always someone home and we spoil your pooch while they are here as our guest. We do everything possible to make your pet feel right at home and comfortable. We have a fenced in front yard and a separate fenced in back yard with plenty of room to run and play. Have peace of mind and be able to really relax and enjoy yourself knowing that your pet is in experienced & caring hands in a real home; not in a kennel (or jail as they think of it). No extra fees for things like playtime, giving meds, taking walks or snuggling on our lap. We are in the country but easy to find and get to. We have repeat clients come from all over the Greater Cincinnati Tri-State area. (OH/KY/IN) We try to be as flexible as possible to accommodate your pick up and drop off times. We do have a Check Out Time of NOON on pickup day. Your pet may stay longer that day, but there will be an additional $20.00 fee added. About this sitter: Furbabies offers several options for pet parents who would prefer to let their fur-kids stay in their own home while they are away. We customize the service to fit each client's needs. We offer overnight stays in your home to care for your pets. This service is offered within a 40 mile range of our service area. Home "visits" are offered within a 20 mi. range. Fee is based on what kind of service you request. We will feed and water, clean litter boxes, give meds if needed (including insulin shots) at no extra charge, bring in newspapers and mail, give your pet(s) some loving attention and make sure all is well at your home. Experience, maturity and knowing what it takes to take great care of your pet(s) is what is important to pet parents. Having the knowledge and skills by working for a veterinarian and also an animal shelter, growing up with dogs, rescuing and fostering homeless dogs, starting my own non-profit rescue organization back in 2003, attending seminars and dog training sessions, reading as much on the subject as I can to help me to be a better pet care giver is what I take pride in to know that I can be more aware to an emergency situation or possibly a concern that another may not. I have reliable transportation if I would need to transport a pet(s) to a veterinarian. I have "back up" assistance in the event of an emergency where I might not be available (fortunately I have not had this happen as of yet, but it is always a good idea to have a plan in place just in case.) In short, I want my clients to be assured that they can relax and enjoy their vacation knowing that their pet(s) are in capable, loving hands. From my own personal experience, I know how important that is to a pet parent. Why I love dog sitting Since I got my first dog at 4 years old. I have grown up with dogs and always had a dog in my life. Once moving out to the country in Indiana, I found out just how many homeless dogs there really are, unfortunately. I began volunteering for the county humane society. In 2003, I co-founded a non-profit 501c3 animal rescue organization called Volunteers For Animal Welfare, Inc. I have fostered many wonderful homeless dogs over the years. VFAW has found new homes for hundreds of homeless dogs over the last 16 years. VFAW makes sure that the dog is first spayed or neutered and is up to date on vaccines and takes care of any medical needs before going to their forever home. I have volunteered my time at our local animal shelter and also worked at the county animal shelter, gaining even more experience with dogs. I worked for a veterinarian for years and that gave me extra knowledge and useful experience. Now my business is pet sitting because of my love for dogs and all animals. I am able to continue to volunteer my time and efforts with the homeless dogs and also make a business caring for others' pets. This is helpful to both the pets and the pet parents too. About my yard We have a fenced in front yard that is big enough for running and playing and a separate fenced in back yard (with a higher fence for keeping jumpers inside) and a bigger amount of yard to play in. There is a covered front porch in the front yard. There is a deck with lots of shade for our doggie guest to snooze in if they want. Lots of grass to run and play and roll on. We also have a nice enclosed porch that connects the front and back yards. My experience administering medication Yes, I have much experience with giving meds having owned and fostered several special needs dogs in the past. I can give pills, eye or ear drops, insulin shots and give fluids if needed, also administer any kind of medicines, topical or otherwise.

Paula was fantastic. She watched my two dogs for a week while I was on vacation somewhat last minute and I felt confident they were in good hands. She updated us consistently and was easy to book with. She has a nice large fenced in yard and home with plenty of dog friendly space. There were other dogs that came during our dogs stay too which was nice for socialization. I would definitely book with her again and will recommend!

Our dog Mary had a great time boarding with Paula. Mary really enjoyed playing with the other dogs boarding with her. Paula sent lots of pictures and videos and kept us informed of how she was doing. Paula was quick to respond when contacted. She is clearly a dog lover with lots of experience caring for dogs.

5 Stars! We boarded our 4-month old pit bull mix puppy at Paula’s home for about a week. She sent us update photos, videos, and texts almost every day, and I could tell our puppy was having a great time. I recommend Paula B. and I would consider using her services again!

Paula was great! From the very first time I reached out to her she was always super responsive. When I was nervous about leaving our puppy with a stranger for the first time, she was happy to have us come out and meet with her in advance. We knew that Hawi may go into heat around that time and although it wasn’t her first choice she said she would still be willing to keep her. She stayed true to her word too when Hawi went into heat the day we were to leave. Without her one of us would have missed or nephew’s wedding. She also once again completely understood my apprehension on leaving her and I got all kind of pictures and videos showing our little girl having a great time. We would definitely recommend Paula to those that need go board their pup.

Information Paula B. would like to know about your pet

I do not have any breed preferences. I love them all, large and small. I do need to be sure that the dog is "dog friendly" before accepting the pet as a guests, as there are other dogs here. Is your dog food aggressive with other dogs or people? Would your senior dog prefer to have his own space if there is a playful dog in the home at the same time? Where is your dog used to sleeping at night? I would also need to know of any special needs they might have. It would be nice to know things such as: if they are afraid of storms, fireworks, noises, etc. Would they be more comfortable in a crate at night or loose in the house? Do they give you a signal when they need to go potty? Do they like to play with other dogs or do they need their own space? These are the kind of questions I would ask the pet's owner.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks We do have the fenced in yards, but if your pet likes to be walked on a leash for exercise, we live at the end of a dead end road and we are in the country, with few houses around, so not much traffic to worry about. Your dog would be walked on a leash to prevent him from running away. We are very careful about those things. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Your fur-kid will sleep inside our home pretty much anywhere he wants. If your pooch likes to be crated (feels more secure) we have crates but if your pet is used to sleeping loose on a doggie bed or a nice blanket, we have that also. You may bring your own bed or blanket if you think your pet would prefer it's own. We have been known to let a little dog sleep in bed with us if they are afraid and they are used to that. Time I'll spend with your dog My husband is retired now and both of us are usually always home so your pet would not be alone. Your fur-kid will most likely follow us all around the house and end of sitting on one of our laps. If your pooch likes to play fetch or other such doggie games, we enjoy doing that too. Time I'll spend with your dog This would depend upon the type of service requested. If you are needing a sitter to stay overnight, generally the sitter would be at your home from a minimum of dinnertime (early P.M.) till after breakfast (late A.M). If needed, the service can be extended for up to 24 hours a day. If the service is a "visit" only, the visits are for a minimum of one half hour with your pet. Keep in mind, that dogs would need generally 3 visits a day and cats a minimum of one visit every day. This can end up for the service to actually cost more than an overnight stay. (Because of gas prices) Extra house-sitting services Yes, most light tasks are included at no extra charge. Depending on the service needed, there might be an additional charge for some tasks and that would be discussed when reserving our services.
