Flexible Availability, Former Owner

Pet care experience

Hey there! My name is Paul and I'm 34 years old. I currently live in Boston by way of San Francisco, where I have pet/home sat for the past 5 years. I have used the Rover app as both a former pet owner and pet/home sitter. I have also taken care of a few pets of friends (e.g. Golden Doodle, Yorkshire, cats). In 2017, my own dog Ziggy (Chihuahua-Jack Russell Terrier Mix) passed away from health complications. I miss him very much. I adopted him at the mature puppy age of 2 years, through San Francisco's SCPA. He was a great companion during my bouts of depression & anxiety. Although I'm not in a place to own an animal at the moment, home/pet sitting is a service I graciously provide for the peace of mind of my customers and the benefit of my own mental health.

Paul housesat and watched my two dogs for about a week. He responded quickly to all questions and took great care of my dogs while I was away. I highly recommend Paul!

Paul was awesome with our anxious pup when we were out of town. He was attentive to his needs and mood and adjusted well! Will be using him again in the future!

Paul has been super professional every step of the way. He was prompt in setting up a meet and greet, on time, and communicated well. He also caught my mistake when I initially booked for the wrong days. We received some updates while we were gone, which was appreciated, but most importantly, our girl was clearly well taken care of. She's old and thrives on routine, and she looked like she barely noticed we were gone when we returned. It's really nice to know that she was in great hands. Bonus: I think our apartment was actually cleaner when we returned. 5+ stars.

Safety, trust & environment

I care for pets by providing their basic needs (food, exercise & play, and sleep) while also making sure they receive the emotional support they normally get from their owner. CONSISTENCY is the key to building trust. Routines are important in my own life, so while you are away from your home, I will maintain the consistency to minimize the amount of change your pet will inevitably experience from your temporary departure.

Information Paul R. would like to know about your pet

Let me know ahead of time if your animal has any allergies, medical concerns, disabilities, dietary restrictions, and/or routines & rituals that are atypical of other pets so that I can modify my personal daily routine accordingly.

A typical day

I love going on long walks (aka urban hikes) through the city. On the weekends, my urban hikes can often last a few hours because they are a form of endurance exercise for myself and the pet. I also enjoy playing catch and watching dogs play with other dogs if permitted. As far as cats go, I'm open to any kind of play as long as the cat is in the mood or receptive to play. I follow the cat's lead.

I live a freelance lifestyle, so my hours are quite flexible as I own my schedule and can move things around at a moment's notice. I work as a certified personal trainer at Equinox Sports Club in Downtown Boston. I also moonlight as a professional actor. I usually wake up around 4:30-5am. And go to bed around 9-10 pm.
