With my father and grandfather being on the New Haven Police force, I was raised amongst German Shepherds with potential to join them. Then we rescued a couple of dogs and I have continued on that path through my adult life. Never in my life have I felt walking a dog was an option, it's a priority and one I've always enjoyed. Just like parenting, dog companionship comes with responsibilities and I would like to help others show their love while then they are in need of someone to be there for their best friend/s. I have walked dogs my entire life and when they are done with their "business," I like to have fun time -- whatever your dog likes to do -- play ball, catch a stick, get belly rubs, back scratches, you tell me what he/she enjoys doing! Now that I am 53 and have had dogs my entire life, again since childhood, I know the importance of safety and no exceptions in that area! Dogs need our guidance in a kind, caring and sometimes firm (speaking) manner for their own safety. Again, I would ask you to tell me not only what he/she enjoys but what to watch out for -- example: one of my German Shepherds did not like other male dogs so when walking him and seeing another dog on our path, I would immediately ask the sex of the dog. If male, we went off the path a bit until that family could pass. If I sit for your dog -- whether daily walks or weekend overnights, I would like to follow your routine to the best of my ability to keep him/her feeling comfortable while loved ones are away....that is important to keep him/her feeling happy, secure, and comfortable with me. I work varying hours but primarily 8-3:30 M_F so I could come by before work for a good half hour or longer walk to get him/her tired, fed, etc. and then come back right after work and again before bed....or, if you prefer, take him/her to my home for the night where he/she will be more than loved and taken care of with two teenage girls who love dogs as much as their mom. We have an older black lab, going blind, and he spends his time between me and his daddy -- my ex-husband (lives in town). So until I get to know your dog, I will send our Sammy Girl to be with her daddy a few days as due to her age, she's not able to play that much anymore and is sooo mellow, and don't want any attention taken away from your dog while in my care -- he/she will be the number one priority and will receive lots of hugs, scratches, walks and whatever else you tell us to make my/our time with your loved one super enjoyable!
