Quality Care for All Pets

Pet care experience

I have lived and worked with animals since I was a child. Up until college, I lived on a farm with horses, chickens, pigs, and no shortage of cats and dogs. After college, I worked in the pet supply industry, where I would interact with dogs on a daily basis. My love of animals was instilled in me at a young age and that love has never subsided. I would make an excellent candidate to give your pets the care they deserve while you are away!

I cannot recommend Patrick enough. For every single visit with our pets, he went above and beyond our expectations. Patrick was highly empathetic when interacting with our pets and was he able to befriend them quickly. We have two dogs (one fearful), a cat, and a bird and Patrick was able to adjust his care perfectly for each of their individual needs.

My dog, Red, stayed with Patrick for a little over 4 days while I was on vacation. Patrick did an initial meet and greet and went over his care and showed where he’d be staying, made sure to ask any questions to make him feel safe and comfortable, developed a good routine with him while I was gone, and sent daily updates that eased my anxiety about leaving him somewhere new while I was away. Red has an orthotic brace that he wears on one of his legs, and he was able to go up and down the sets of stairs to Patrick’s place without much difficulty. Patrick was also good about handling the brace with him. Through the way he interacted with Red and the questions he asked and updates he gave, I could tell Patrick was very experienced and great with dogs. Red was very happy when I picked him up and seemed like he’d been well cared for. I will absolutely book with Patrick again in the future!!

Safety, trust & environment

Building trust with any dog is essential, as you need to be able to pick up on a dog's cues while also giving them the time and space to build a trusting bond with you. This is something I have always been keen to. I have never been bitten by a dog, which I attribute to understanding the proper ways to act around dogs, particularly new ones. Building routines is important, as dogs thrive when they get into good, positive routines. Communication with the owners is also essential. I want the trust to go both ways and I hope to achieve that by providing a great service and communicating well.

Information Patrick R. would like to know about your pet

I would love to hear you describe your dog, their demeanor, what they love, and what I should avoid when interacting with them. Meet and greets are essential. Any special needs, I will accommodate to the very best of my ability. I have always been able to strike a good relationship with dogs, but I am aware they can be timid or aggressive towards people they do not know. I bring a calm, loving disposition, which hopefully will be the foundation of a great working relationship with your dog.

A typical day

I live in the heart of Dover, giving me close access to a lot of potential clientele. There are a few local parks in the area, which would be common places we visit. I'd look to build a good routine and rapport with your dog, while exploring different parts of greater Dover.

I am currently working from home, which gives me quite a bit of flexibility with my schedule. I tend to do most of my work in the evenings, which leaves me with time during the day to provide pet care. Depending on the client, I am willing to be as flexible as I can be.
