When growing up, I was youngest child and the last remains at home when my sisters went t boarding school. I spent nearly every day after school walking and playing with my dog Trixie. She was never keen on fetch, but we would often run in circles in the yard until one or both of us needed to rest. Along with own dog, I would spend the entire summer in a home with my extended family, a home with up to four dogs at one time. My love for dogs is immeasurable, and getting to meet new dogs and their owners is basically the ideal job for me. Along with feeling comfortable with caring for younger, healthy dogs, I am familiar with caring for elderly dogs. Just recently my family’s dog was put down after a long year of suffering health. While it was hard for the family, I gained invaluable experience in catering to the needs of a dog who was suffering from the loss of her sight. The summer before coming to school, while caring for her, brought me closer to my dog than I had ever been before.
