Cat-person; but dogs are cool too

Pet care experience

Once upon a time it was June 25, 2009. Michael Jackson dies, and a litter of kittens is found in my family's backyard. Since then I've been a cat mom to 2 of the litter of 5—imperfectly but learning and getting better year after year. (Of the 5, one was black & white, so I named him MJ, in his [Michael Jackson's] honor. But that's neither here nor there.) I began Rovering in Summer 2020. It was a slow start (like many good things in life, such as native flowers finally blooming after they’d been planted; it’s worth the wait) but since then have had a good amount of bookings. Quick note: in case you're questioning my "12 years of experience" (noted above), I'll add that I'm 31 years old. Before Rovering, I had house-sat for only friends & their pets. Here I have 2 major experiences: (1) From 2018–2021 every year I've house/pet-sat 2 dogs (they're both in my Photos: #6 & 7), and (2) in July ’19 for 2 weeks, while my friend was in Europe, I cared for his home and 2 cats (photo #5—the 2 black Beauties), which are 2 of a litter of 4 that I'd rescued from being unnecessarily taken to a shelter. The other 2 cuties are pictured in #4. (And I have to mention in the process I TNR'ed their mom, which was a very rewarding experience.) I have little experience walking dogs; but I love walking, could do it for hours; so I have a preference for dogs who love long walks too. More seriously, though, I'm open to tailoring walks to suit whatever needs & wants your dog(s) have. Open to walking cats too—please fulfill a dream of mine! Responsible cat guardianship ("ownership," if you prefer) is very important to me; having pet cats isn't a passive matter. PS: When house sitting, I take care of the home too. Before I leave your home, I will have cleaned up after myself and disinfected, per your instructions. PPS—a few notes on my rates: They apply to bookings within a 15-mile radius of me. To an extent, I'm willing to negotiate my rates if you're low-income or struggling financially. If my rates, or the rates on Rover in general, appear high to you, note that Rover takes 20%. So, for example, my drop-ins and walks are $19, but of that I make $15.20. Also, my rates, obviously, don't reflect the many nuances of each booking—meaning, each circumstance. So, for example, if your dog is super chill & low-maintenance, we could talk about lowering my rate(s). However, in any case, I can't _guarantee_ an adjustment/reduction. Finally!—if you request a booking w/ me between 10pm–6am, you can expect my reply to be delayed; depending on the hour, probably it’ll take me longer than a half hour to get back to you.

This is my 3rd time using Patrica to do drop-in visits for my cat. She is truly the best and will provide excellent care and attention to your fur babies. I highly recommend Patrica and fully trust her in my home and to provide excellent care and communication.

Patricia is a wonderful catsitter! She took excellent care of our cats, one of which is older and takes daily medications. Everything was handled very well and she really took the time to make sure all our kitties were comfortable and had what they needed. She even made sure there was food and water outside for a few friendly neighborhood stray cats that we keep an eye on. :) As a first time Rover user, I was a bit nervous overall, but Patricia really put me at ease and gave me excellent peace of mind. Very easy to communicate with, reliable, and such a calming personality...you and your pets will love Patricia!

Patricia is a dream cat sitter -- kind/thoughtful/reliable and really sensitive to my cat's needs & energy. This is the third time she has taken care of my cat and I highly recommend her, especially if you have a shy or skittish cat!

Patricia took terrific care of my cat while I was out of town for several days. He is shy and hides from most strangers but her calm and gentle energy put him at ease immediately. Her updates were detailed with great photos which made my time away much more relaxing. Thank you, Patricia -- you went above and beyond and I appreciate it! I will definitely turn to you first for any future cat care needs -- so happy to have found you here :)

Aside from giving your pets their basic needs? I will scoop the litter boxes even if you tell me It’s ok, don’t worry about it. I move at the pace of your cats: for instance, if they prefer keeping their distance from me & not being pet, I would never force anything more. If you have dogs, & I’m house sitting for you, I will want to walk your dogs as much as possible, preferring nearby trails, if you give me the permission to, along w/ the permission to drive your dogs to the trail (if it’s not a walking-distance away).

Information Patricia K. would like to know about your pet

Any and all behaviors but especially the quirky, questionable, and contentious. Also, their regular routine, to accommodate it as much as possible to my own. … we could get to the specifics later.

A typical day

Because I don't offer Boarding, this question applies to a typical day if I were pet sitting at your home. A typical day would depend on your dogs: if they like walking long distances, we would take a hike, exploring new territory, perhaps at the nearest Metropark (with your permission); if they like being couch potatoes, we would chill on the couch; if they like playing never-ending fetch, I’d throw the ball for as long as I could muster.
