Happy Tails on Trails***
Pet care experience
Hello and welcome to Happy Tails on Trails***, fun Holidays for your pup and peace of mind for you! Your pup's vacation with me includes a daily hike or walk and loving, caring attention 24/7 in a high-quality and low-stress environment. I have over 30 years of experience caring for dogs. I love all breeds and sizes of dogs and will host any pup that is neutered or spayed and socialized, meaning that they are not aggressive towards other dogs or people. I am a responsible, mature individual and lead a healthy lifestyle. My work is from my home office, which gives me the flexibility and the ability to give individual attention to your pup. Since there are no children in the house, 100% of my attention goes to your furry kid. My single-story, comfortable home with a nice backyard, a shaded patio, and secured fences is a peaceful haven for your furry friends. The pups that stay with me are free to come in and out of the house all day. I will typically host a maximum of 2 pups. On occasion, and during high demand Holidays, we might have an additional guest when I believe they are a good match to be dog mates. If your pup requires an exclusive one-only stay, an upgrade to their visit is available. See below for details. I love to hike, especially in canine company, one of the reasons that I host pups outside of my daily work as a consultant. I like their companionship and how they are such awesome motivators to get me out of the office. My go-to hiking trail is the hilly Heinz Open Space Park in Los Gatos, less than 5 minutes from my home, and I am there in the morning or, on occasion, in the evening. My normal hike takes about 1 hour +/-. If your pup is not up to an intense hike up and down the hills or is leash reactive toward other hiking dogs, we will stroll the neighborhood. For great running and playing on grassy grounds and off-leash, we might go to one of the nearby school grounds. Weather permitting, and of course, if your pup is up for it and OK off-leash, we might have a mini-adventure at the dog beach near Santa Cruz. When we are not hiking, your doggy will most likely take a snooze in my office while I work. Even though the entire house and yard are at their disposal, pups ultimately end up in my office. If you would like your furry baby to greatly enjoy his/her vacation and plenty of love while you enjoy yours, let's meet. I look forward to meeting you and your furry friends! Patricia *** DETAILS ON PRICING, UNIQUE NEEDS, AND LOGISTICS: - I host all breeds and sizes of dogs as long as they are that are neutered/spayed, vaccinated, and house-trained. - I prefer to host pups that are socialized and friendly to others, especially for our hikes. For a guarantee that your dog is hosted alone because they are not friendly, or not comfortable with other dogs, or for other reasons, it is possible to upgrade to one dog-only stay. - Overnight boarding rate is $113, including Rover's service fees, overnight and in $57 increments for half days (2-4 hours.) Extended Care of nightly rate 50-100%, i.e., if you need to drop off your pup in the morning and pick it up in the late afternoon is $113. - I typically host up to 2 dogs at a time, sometimes 3 when I am confident that they are compatible unless you request that your dog be the only one to be hosted. - For an exclusive one-dog-only stay upgrade, the overnight boarding rate is $175 (including Rover's fees) for 24 hours. - All new guests require an initial meeting first with an intake form describing your pup's habits. My goal is to earn the trust of your pup for the long term, to make sure that we are a mutual match, and that you are comfortable with me and the surroundings. - Walking/hiking for up to 45 minutes once a day is included with hosting, depending on your pup's ability. - I will send you pictures every day unless you request otherwise. - Administering daily medications/vitamins included. - IMPORTANT- Logistics: I have a coaching business that requires scheduled phone and Zoom calls and the need to schedule the arrival and departure of your pup on my calendar so as not to conflict with my work. Drop-off and pick-up times have a flexible 30-minute window between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. This ensures that I keep my work calendar free of professional calls for our arranged times. If your travel arrangements are significantly outside of this time window, kindly drop off/pick up your pup the night before or the morning after. Of course, when unforeseen emergencies and delays happen, I always do my best to accommodate your needs. As I spend most of my time on the phone or via Zoom, I appreciate your communication by phone or text if you need to arrive earlier or later than the time we agreed upon. Thank you for considering me and my home as your pup's special home away from home. I look forward to meeting you and your fur baby.
Reviews
This was the second time we boarded with Patricia- this time for both our dogs. She took great care of them and sent us regular updates and tons of photos. Our dogs tend to pull when walked together in new areas because they get excited. She managed them well- changing the leash and using treats to get them to walk better together. They went on long hikes in the lush green hills near the house. Patricia also took care of their specific dietary and medical needs. One of my dogs recently had to be taken to the ER and was recovering. I would highly recommend Patricia and will continue to board our dogs with her.
Patricia was very understanding and accommodating of our situation. She was very thorough during the initial meeting and asked good questions about their behavior. We have two dogs- each with their own quirks. We also had a last minute change of plans and had to reschedule a little. Patricia took great care of our pup- she took her on regular walks in her beautiful neighborhood. We got frequent updates on our dog with pictures and videos. This was our dog’s second time being boarded with someone on Wag and we were relieved to finally find an option which works. We’ll definitely be boarding our dogs with Patricia again!
Patricia took such great care of our special needs pup. Sent us lots of pupdates throughout the stay to let us know she was doing well. Very appreciative of her care!
Excellent stay . Lots of pics of my pup getting his exercise. Already booked a return visit

I have a fenced and secured yard, a house alarm, and a video security camera. Pups have access to the yard all day. I have a water filter and they drink purified water. I don't leave the house except for routine errands like groceries or to the nearby gym for my daily workouts.

Information Patricia B. would like to know about your pet
- I work on my business at the home office, and I spend a considerable amount of time on the phone or video calls. Thus a dog that frequently barks (beyond the occasional and normal front door bark alarm) is most likely not a good fit. - Also, I don't mind having the pups on my bed while I read, or watch a movie, but I do not let the pups sleep in my bedroom. The reasons are: 1) I would need to let the two dogs that I host sleep there to avoid unhealthy preferential treatment that can result in fights between the dogs. 2) I am a light sleeper and easily wake up in the middle of the night which affects my workday productivity. Pups are allowed to sleep anywhere else in the house: in the living room, on the couch, in my office, or the guest room next to my bedroom.
A typical day
We will go on a hike at Heinz Open Space in Los Gatos, at Quick Silver Almaden Park, or on walks in the neighborhood, depending on your pup's ability and desire, and the weather. Other activities depending on your pup's off-leash ability and socialization: - Outing at the beach in Aptos for beach-friendly pups. - At the park or school grounds for off-leash runs and for friendly pups.
