Big or small, love them all
Pet care experience
My clients range from anxious small dogs who get special socializing, to huge and reactive ones who aren't easy to walk. Try me if you want a fairly tall and fit guy who can handle it all. I take some challenging requests other sitters won't. Your pet will get attention like mine do. In 2010 I started volunteering to walk dogs at the SF City shelter, and adopted my chihuahua Diamond. She's now a veteran for bike rides in my backpack and is probably more well known than I am in local cycling groups. In 2020 I saw my dog Comet in an ad which I think was a "last chance" for a shelter dog who wasn't being adopted because of anxiety and defensive biting. With patience, I socialized him to be happy and calm and you can see him smiling in my profile pic. My third is Avery, a yorkie-chihuahua. He was a walking client and his owner asked if I knew any place to rehome him... I said no way is he going to a stranger, and now he lives with me. This is a job for love more than money. I have a regular career of running my own business for 20 years: internet seller, bicycle instructor, animation artist and writer. I wrote a news story in Bay Woof magazine about drawing pet portraits. I love doing all this on flexible hours for you and your pet. I am pretty busy but flexible! If you have a need apart from what my calendar says, reach out and I might be able to arrange it. New relationships for regular walking are especially good to start.
Reviews
Pat is the greatest! My dogs have never been happier. Bonus Pat is an excellent photographer. I will 100% ask for Pat every time.
Pat went out in gale to walk the pups. Thanks
Pat was flexible and responsive.
Pat was a great sitter for Decker. Provided lots of photos, cuddles - and our shy cat even loved him! Very much appreciated being able to have a stress-free night out without having to worry about the "kids".

For most sitting jobs, I'm hosted to stay there, but I don't need much. Most jobs are close enough that I go back and forth to care for my dogs at home in the day, so I need very few amenities (a guest room is great though). My pets are socialized to be comfortable with each other, but not every dog is that easy going. I'll rely on your instructions and only mix your pets with mine if you think it's OK.
Information Pat L. would like to know about your pet
You should inform me about diet, behavior, any special needs or triggers for issues, and what sort of activity level you expect. Please tell me if the pet is neutered, un-neutered pets may be turned away. Pets must be in good health, protected from fleas, and collared with name and phone number on it. I'm most likely to work with clients who know what their pets need to feel comfortable and happy, and give good instructions.
A typical day
Walks around the block are easy but I like to take dogs to explore different routes besides the usual. Expect effort for photos. Usually these are solo walks (I don't group multiple dogs). Car trips take time and aren't usual but when they happen, Point Isobel and the park in Point Richmond are great to visit.

Availability
I'm available for walking and sitting at your place. I usually don't board at my place. My career is self-employed so I can be very flexible. I usually stay inside 15 minutes trip from home so this is a pretty close neighbor thing.
