I’ve had a dog in my family home since I was 6 years old. Since then I have gone out of my way to learn how to properly treat and care for pets to give them the best life possible because it’s what they deserve! I have a psychology degree and I took a college course about dog psychology back in 2021. We learned all about recognizing dog behaviors and how to train dogs! We went to an animal shelter twice a week to assist in a dog training class for dogs of all different ages, sizes, breeds, backgrounds, and abilities! This included anything from frightened, reactive dogs and helping them to become comfortable around people to help them get adopted, to teaching household dogs fancy new skills and tricks! We recorded our dog students’ progress and wrote a whole research paper about them at the end of the semester. It was such a wholesome and fulfilling learning experience, and I feel that much more knowledgeable about dogs since then.
