One Man and his Dog: Ollie and Arnie
Pet care experience
My dog Arnie and I both absolutely love dogs; all types and sizes. I've had Arnie since April 2021 - he's a rescue from Spain, terrified of new people, but he can't get enough of being around other dogs (and playing!). We're a great team for your dog-walking or caring needs. I've had dogs my entire life; a German Shepherd called Chipper when i was very young, an Old English Sheepdog called Monty from when I was about 10 years old, a Springer Spaniel called Morgan (she was also a rescue) at 15, I fostered a friend's French Bulldog for almost 12 months called Hazard, helped care for a previous partners Dalmatian named Buttons for 5 years... and now I'm here! I've looked after small dogs, big dogs, young dogs and old dogs. (I'm one of those people that sometimes says how they prefer the company of animals over humans!) Arnie and I stay very active and fit, we go on camping and hiking trips together, he goes running with me, and we always make sure we get our 10,000 steps in every day! As an actor and part-time bartender, my time can be quite flexible and some weeks I can be available in the daytime all week. I don't currently drive, so I'm looking for dogs within a 2-mile radius from where I live in Longbridge.

Fabulous, from start to finish.....lunar has had a great time with Alfie and Oliver. Communication was brilliant and Oliver sent us over lots pictures of lunar day. Thank you for everything 🙏
I met with Ollie to make sure all was OK and well there was nothing to worry about. Both Ollie and Arnie are lovely. Weaver was happy and I had piece of mins knowing she is in good hands. See you Thursdays from here on in.
Daisy absolutely loves her walks with Oliver and Arnie! Oliver has excellent communication and sends great updates from Daisy’s walk.
Oliver is an outstanding candidate to care for pets. He has his own dog Arnie who he's looked after and nurtured for 2 years now. He's a rescue dog and he's come on leaps and bounds with Oliver as his owner. Teaching him tricks, rewarding him with treats, going on lovely walks to nearby parks. Oliver loves dogs! He cares for his moms dog whilst she's away at work too. He's very trustworthy and responsible. Due to being away for acting work in different locations across the country, I ask Oliver to look after my miniature schnauzer Shelby, I couldn't trust anyone else too. I know he's in safe hands; he'd be well fed, walked and given the attention he needs whilst I'm away. Oliver has an abundance of experience with looking after dogs, it's a nobrainer to have him on the books at Rover.com.

I have my own dog, Arnie, a German Shepherd Cross who is a rescue originally from Spain. He is a neutered male, 3 years old on 25th November 2023. He is a great companion for any dog - he loves all types and sizes (but especially smaller ones). He has a huge collection of best friends including a female French Bulldog, a retired Greyhound, and a boisterous young male Vizsla - as I said, he likes all types! The downstairs of my house is open plan, so I can always see what's going on, and my sofas have dog covers on them so they can join me for cuddles. My garden is sizeable and has a large patch of grass where the dogs normally choose to do their business! The fences are tall, at 6ft minimum all the way round, and there is no access to the garden apart from inside my home. I have a large crate if it is needed (that easily fits my 40kg Shepherd). Visiting your home can be with or without my Arnie, and I/we would spend quality time with your pet, playing and fussing, and ensuring they were as comfortable as possible before we left. I send picture and video updates throughout my time with your beloved animal!

Information Oliver J. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your dog has any special needs or behaviours that I might be able to account for. If your dog is staying at my home, it must be able to get on with my pet Arnie! And it would be preferred that the dog that I am walking or visiting could potentially get on well with Arnie too, as I would like to bring him with me. He has had many interactions with anti-social dogs when we've been out, and he never reacts negatively to them. I have also walked anti-social dogs with Arnie, and they are completely fine with him providing I walk them either side of me. Of course, if you're dog really can't spend time with Arnie, I can still walk them or do drop-in visits! But I cannot look after them in my home.
A typical day
Arnie and I will provide plenty of mental and physical stimulation for your dog! Arnie loves to play, but also respects dogs that do not want to play and prefer things quiet - he adapts to whatever dog we have with us. Between us both, and my housemate Jason, your dog will never be short of getting fuss and attention! We have plenty of toys about the house, including two mentally-stimulating puzzle toys with a supply of treats, and a garden to let off even more steam. Regular daily walks are a must for Arnie; we have Cofton Park just a 10-15 minute walk away, and the Lickey Hills just a bit further. If a more gentle walk is required, there are the surrounding streets and area near my home in Longbridge, and a small park with a green at the bottom of my road (and there is another large park just a 5-minute walk away too).

I have plenty of time on my hands currently, as I'm an actor (the cliché of being out of work most of the time is true!) and I'm also a part-time bartender. So, I find that most of my evenings are completely busy, but my mornings and afternoons can be quite free and flexible. And this is from Monday through to Sunday. It can vary if/when I get work, but there will always be plenty of notice if there are days I cannot do. Currently my days are already filled with dog-care and dog-walks - for my German Shepherd Cross, Arnie. But we are looking for more 4-legged companions.
