I have ALWAYS had a dog since I was baby. And honestly I can't live without them! I rescued my first dog when I was 18; trained and rehomed her to a nice older couple. I currently have a 5 year old rescue and a new 4 month old Aussie. I pride myself on being the one in control with my dogs and will ultimately extend that mentality to dogs under my care. I do not tolerate bad behavior within reason and will correct any bad behavior right then and there. Key is to break their attention/focus and redirect it to something fun and stimulating! I know I make it sound like some sort of boot camp but I assure you we are all having fun :). I work long hours during the week and usually look for things to do with the dogs on the weekends but always come up short .. until now! Our day usually starts around 7am with a medium length 1-2 mile walk, then another mid day before we find an activity to do whether its a hike or park. Lately just training sessions. Then come home and let the dogs nap for a bit and another medium length walk before dinner. Come back and the dogs play for a bit until bed time.
