I hired Niko to house sit as I have 2 cats- one who needs medication in the morning and at night, so it is easier to have someone just come and stay. We had a meet and greet before I went out of town. He seemed really nice and he gave me a good price for the time i booked. He said he had just started house sitting so didn't have much experience. I explained that my one cat is old and eats rotisserie chicken and that there were 2 chickens in the fridge to feed him while i was gone in addition to his regular dry cat food. I asked him if anyone else would be over here and he said maybe yes his bf. I said that was ok. I showed him how to work all of my tvs n stuff n I felt good about having him stay there. I left for my trip and while I was gone I can see on the cameras the bf was also here most of the time as well. Ok that's fine. It is not ok however, that he had 2 additional people over at 3 in the morning one night drinking and partying here w him and his bf. The next day I asked him not to have additional guests over and he said ok it wouldn't happen again. As far as I know that was the only night he had additional people at my place. Also while I was gone, I had some groceries delivered and I asked him to put it away and he said that he would. I asked how my cat tiny- the old cat- was doing and he said that he was getting thin and that he would probably go get him more chicken- I told him he gets thin because he isn't getting his medication so he needed to watch him swallow it and not spit it out... but another chicken wouldn't hurt. The whole time I was gone I only got 2 pictures of my cats and one of them I had to ask for. When I came home my cat Tiny was pretty thin but otherwise ok. My other cat was good. When I left home, my house was spotless- freshly washed sheets, floors vaccumed, swept and mopped. I dont expect him to wash the sheets n all that but just be Tidy. When i got home i could see that 2 of my sliding glass door bindes had been chipped on the corners. No heads up about that. The floor looked decent, but I have a robot vacuum so its not hard to do the floors- but my couches were covered in kitty litter and smelled. .. so i can tell he just ran the robot vaccum once before leaving or else the counch wouldn't of collected so much litter. My couch pillows looked nice and my bed was made- I feel like he tried to make it look nice at least. The kitchen however, had a ton of dirty dishes in the sink, food in the garbage disposal so it stunk, a pan full of grease on the stove, a stack of dishes that needed to be put away, the counters were disgusting. Thats all I needed was to come home after a long trip and clean my gross kitchen. In the fridge was one of the chickens that had gone bad and barely any had been given to my cat. No new chicken in there. I also didn't see my groceries in the fridge, which I found all of them in my freezer. My fresh groceries which are now all ruined. Then the following day I stepped on a peice of glass that cut me so bad I bled all over my kitchen floor. I looked in my cabinet and sure enough a glass r 2 are not there anymore. No mention of that to me either. Now today I am vacuming my floor and I see that Niko had gotten a food supplement that I found under my couch for my cat, which I thought was thoughtful because he tried at least- so I started to not be so upset about the condition of things... untill I went to vacuum my floor and can see a candle had been dropped on my carpet in 2 SEPERATE places and burnt the carpet so bad that I doubt I'll get my deposit back. Again no heads up about that either. I guess the morale of the story is that sometimes you get what you pay for. I do think Niko cares about the cats and would be ok just to pet sit, but I wouldn't allow him to house sit for me again. I don't think any of the misfortunes for my place were intentional, and he did say that he was inexperienced in house sitting, but I am not trying to risk having my place burned down for a cheap sitter.

Niko is great with animals. He has been around my pitbull Bonnie, who is 2 years old, many times and has been amazing with her. Niko can keep up with her energy on walks and when they play together at parks. He has also looked after her a few times when I was away and did a fantastic job. I definitely recommend him because he is fun, loving, and responsible.
