I work with children in an after school program part time during the school year and full time in the summer. I am interested in working with pets to supplement the shorter days during the school year. I begin work at 2pm and end at 6 with weekends completely free. Similar to children, animals need adequate attention and care in their preferred ways. I take the time to pay attention to these different needs as they are communicated. I also have the patience to work through those communications given the language barrier. (My woof and bark could use some work). I have two dogs and four cats living in my house and have a great relationship with each of them. Their personalities all vary greatly and the most antisocial of all has chosen me as his favorite. I believe this is because I am good at sensing and respecting their boundaries and waiting for indications of consent so they are not overwhelmed. I have a lot of energy to give if that is what your dog needs, but my demeanor in general is pretty mellow so I won't be too much for a chill pup. A friend of mine fosters dogs and I have helped her out pet sitting and dog walking while she is working or out of town. These pups have often been through some trauma and I have found it very rewarding to work with them in their re-socialization.
