I live on 20 acres and work from home, so the animals are very rarely left alone. I have raised dogs for several years and also have had rescues with special needs. I have a B.S. in Animal Science and used to be a paramedic, so giving meds, etc is something I have no problem with. The dogs have plenty of room to run and play, but if they require a fenced in yard, I do have a big indoor arena that's completely enclosed. I love all breeds, I have owned several kinds of dogs and currently have Aussies and a couple rescues from the dog meat trade in Korea. I do not have cats in my home, but I do have cats on the property. My animals are my kids therefore they're treated as such!!
