Hi, I'm Nikki! I'm new to Rover but I've helped care for animals for many years. I've worked for a dog walking company and it was one of the best jobs I've had in my life. Being out, exploring, and getting exercise was fun for both me and the dogs on my route. I'd give reports and take photos of all our outings. From there, I worked at an animal hospital assisting vet techs and doctors by walking, feeding and holding the animals for their treatments. I learned so much, especially about having patience and compassion for animals that are sick and scared. I gained a lot of knowledge about safe animal handling and body language. I've also completed Fear Free training! I have adopted a pretty quirky Beagle/Boston terrier mix about 10 yrs ago and he's kept me busy ever since. He's very smart and active. A lot of understanding and keeping him busy have helped him come such a long way. It's been so rewarding to see!

Nicole is great! When my dog is stubborn and doesn’t want to walk, she hangs out with him and plays with him so he’s still burning off some energy.

Nikki is the quintessential "animal person". I've seen firsthand the patience and understanding she has with nervous and behaviorally complicated dogs, and it is truly remarkable. She clearly finds so much joy in connecting with our four-legged friends. She has a gentle and creative approach to bonding with animals, and it shows in how quickly they warm up to and trust her. My shy cats had a strong sense of stranger-danger, but they were big fans of Nikki almost immediately! I would absolutely trust her to apply great respect and integrity toward caring for any animal.

I have a nervous dog with dietary issues, so I understand the importance of adapting to those needs. Please let me know if your dog is nervous, reactive, food motivated or any other helpful information before a meet and greet. I'd like to do anything I can do to help your dog have the most positive experience while in my care.
A typical day
As I've learned from experience, a bored dog will keep themselves busy somehow...sometimes not in the best way. Mental stimulation is very important! If your dog is looking for a change of scenery from the neighborhood, I'd love to take them to one of the bike paths or land trusts in the area. I'd be happy to give them any treats along the way as well! I have several puzzle games that are great entertainment on a rainy day.
