Safe & Happy pets while you're away
Pet care experience
I am a lifelong fur baby parent (dogs and cats). I had the pleasure of working at an Animal Hospital in Dallas Tx while in college and pet sat for clients regularly (6 years). While working at the animal hospital I interacted with varying clients and fur patients, and learned so much about preventative care and also treatments. Over the years because of this experience and my love for animals, my friends and family often turn to me for advice when they have pet questions. In addition to basic care, I have experience in administering insulin injections and IV fluids. My grandmother's poodle became diabetic in his later years and required daily insulin injections. One of my own cats needed IV fluids every few days as he was 17 and having some kidney issues. My vet (boss at the time), showed me how to do this at home so I did not have to bring him to the clinic as much. This helped reduce his anxiety a lot. I understand how difficult it is when pets get older and begin to have special needs, and frequent trips to the vet are hard on them and us as parents. If we can find a solution to help them at home, then that is best! In addition to basic care and feeding, oral/injectable medications and treatments, I also offer mail pick-up, light and blind/shade rotations, and plant care to keep your household active while you are away. With regard to fees for my services, my rates are based on experience, knowledge, reliability, my time, and mileage/travel expenses.
Reviews
Nicole was awesome to work with! She left detailed notes in the pet updates and was always on time with visits. A great communicator and someone we'll definitely use again in the future!
Nicole is AMAZING! She cares for pets as if they are her own family members. She is very kind and patient with animals. She is also detail oriented and provides timely communication. She is one of the few people that I trust to look after my dogs. I highly recommend Nicole!
I have known Nicole since she was in middle school. She is a very caring, responsible and loving person. She's always had animals. Worked for a veterinarian for quite some time growing up. Nicole has taken care of my babies when I've had to go out of town on several occasions. Never any problems and both my cat and dog love her! She talks to them so sweetly and really enjoys being with them. You could not find a more loving person to care for your fur babies! Thank you Sherry

With my own pets I have always been hyper-focused on their whereabouts and activities. Presently we have 1 indoor only cat, and have always instituted an indoor only policy for all our cats (unless supervised closely). When leaving/arriving home, I do not feel comfortable until I see them safe and sound. For dogs, even when in a fenced backyard, they need oversight to ensure they are not getting into issues. And you never know when a fence/gate might not be secured. My own cat has gastro sensitivities and cannot eat anything but his prescription food, so I habitually am careful to not leave things out that could be harmful, and if any food falls on the floor it is picked up immediately. My own pet sees a specialist in addition to a primary vet, and I am very diligent in keeping him safe and healthy. Lastly, I understand that not only are you entrusting me with your pet, you are relying on me to be trustworthy and responsible in your home. I will treat your home with the respect that I would hope mine would be given when under another's care.
Information Nicole H. would like to know about your pet
First, I want to learn about your pet and understand their likes and dislikes. Are there certain areas they do not like to be touched, where are their hiding places, what do their different behaviors mean, etc. Also it is important for me to understand your expectations, and what will provide you with security and confidence in entrusting me to care for your fur baby. We all have our routines with our pets and know what works and what doesn't. My goal is to support their routine to make our visits together enjoyable and exceed your expectations.
A typical day
When caring for any pet, my goal is to make them as happy as can be while I am with them. All while keeping them safe! All pets have different preferences, and I am willing to accommodate to their needs. Do they want to walk until their heart is content, play in the backyard, visit a social spot that is parent approved to visit with their friends, play with toys in the cool a/c, or just want to snuggle--If they are happy, then I am happy!!

I have taken a hiatus from corporate work to allow greater flexibility for time with my family and to spend my energy engaged in activities that I am passionate about. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have 1 son. Our son is finishing his Freshman year in high school and I want to be more present with him before he goes to college. My love of animals and caring for them, combined with the flexibility Rover provides is a perfect fit for me. My dream is to open my own pet daycare/hotel one day. I actually wrote a business plan for this goal as part of the final curriculum when earning my MBA. Maybe one day!
