Teacher and Dog/Cat/Human Mom

Pet care experience

I see my dogs and cats as part of the family. I imagine you feel the same way! I want to make sure you feel comfortable with me caring for your pet family member(s). I will take excellent care of your animals and you do not need to worry in their absence! I have been an animal lover my whole life and was socialized with the belief that dogs and cats are a vital part of the family and that value system has remained with me throughout my life. My mother worked with dogs and we always had many dogs in our house--(also; all kinds of "other" animal friends including horses, cats, goats, cows and chickens! :)) I will treat your "pet" with love and warmth. I also can house sit at your house as long as I am able to bring my rescue dog, Zelda, who loves interacting with other dogs and is friendly with cats. I would like to have a conversation with you first to make sure that I am a good match for your beloved animals--regardless of the form. I teach/work from home and I love being with animals. I also am more than happy to take your dogs for walks and to play with your dog if you are not home. I have a friendly dog here who loves to play, as well! :) I have been taking care of my friends furry family members for years, often staying in their homes when they are away, since I teach online. I adopted all my "family members" from rescues/shelters/the "streets." And love them dearly. My cat Charlotte required IV fluids 2 times a day at the end of her life and I kept her alive and healthy/happy for 2 additional years. I have taken my dogs to "obedience" training and agility classes and read a lot of books about animal behavior. I cook for my dog now as she has some health issues, and I am used to administering oral meds to both dogs and cats. I have taken care of special needs cats (and dogs) in my life as well. I am an educator and have also been teaching for 22 years and am a mom so I am sort of used to the nurturing role for better or worse and I will take care of your loved ones with mindfulness, care, love, and respect. I will take good care of your home as well. Thank you for your consideration. Nicole, Zelda, and Zora

This was my first time using rover and it was an excellent experience. Nicole was fantastic and my 16 year old big personality cat bill enjoyed meeting his new friend. Highly recommended.

As always, Nicole was a delight to work with, communicated quickly, sent detailed and thoughtful updates, and took great care of our cats! She also kept our place clean and was generous with the treats. We will be back!

Nicole was fantastic with our cats! She provided detailed updates and adorable pictures, and was so caring! She even managed to lure out our most skittish kitty, and gave everyone plenty of treats. Our place even looked nicer than when we left. We couldn’t be happier with Nicole’s visits!

Our pup has a new BFF and her name is Nicole! We were apprehensive about leaving our dog, Gucci, home alone for the first time. But, after a meet & greet we were relieved and grateful to have found Nicole. She is a dog person, no doubt about it, and she is very welcoming and kind. Nicole showed up as requested, performed all the doggie tasks we'd asked her to (and more - thanks for grabbing the mail!), and showered our boy with lots of attention & affection. I loved the detailed check-ins and cute pics she sent via Rover. We missed Gucci, but we didn't worry about him. I will most definitely ask Nicole back. 5 stars!

A typical day

I would love to learn more about your dogs/cats to see how they “move through the world.” As I mentioned, I prefer to talk/meet first to see how I can best help! I want to learn about your animals to help meet their needs. (And yours) My philosophy is that it is the dog’s walk, for example, so as long as their parents don’t mind, I prefer to do what they like—i.e. if they want to stop and sniff most of the walk, it is fine by me! As another example, I don’t feel comfortable forcing dogs to go for walks in certain weather if they don’t want to!
