My family has always taken in strays, nursed them back to health, and made sure that they found the homes that they deserved. That being said, a lot of the animals that we did take in had medical issues, so I learned how to administer medicine, help with recovering from surgeries, and many other useful skills. When it comes to older pets, I have experience there as well, most of the animals that we owned lived very long and happy lives. My own dog who now lives with my family, has very bad arthritis. Making his life easier when I was still living with them was one of my goals. Right now I live in a place where I can't have my own dog, so it'd be really nice to love on a lovable pup, or keep an older dog company. I've never met a dog that didn't like me, or vise versa!
