Pet care experience
I have lived with dogs my entire life and volunteered at the Animal Humane Society for many years. I have also fostered dogs throughout the years and continue to watch friends' dogs when they go on vacation. All of this experience has made me very knowledgeable about many different dog breeds and their special needs. I would gladly welcome your dog into my house with my three dogs. I would also love to take your dog on a walk or visit your dog at your house. I also love and prefer to watch senior dogs. I find that older dogs and more sedentary dogs get along better with my older dogs and my father's dog (they are 11, 12, and 12). My dogs are an important part of my life, so having a canine guest fits right into our schedule. We snuggle at night and play after work. The dogs in my home get free reign of the house. They love to watch out the big picture window in the front of the house. When it is cool or warm enough, they sometimes sit in the three-seasons porch and watch the backyard. They are allowed on the furniture and most of our visitors choose to sleep with me or sleep on a pet bed on the floor in my room. They also love to run around the big fenced in yard. My 20 year old son helps me with the different services. His name is Grant and he is in vet tech school and is very knowledgeable and has hands-on experience with many animals. He is available to visit cats (I’m allergic) and house sit if desired.
Reviews
Nicki was wonderful with Miley. She sent lots of pics and Miley looked just like part of the family. It made it so easy to relax while away. I would definitely recommend her and would book again.
Our plans changed and we needed to add a few more drop in visits. Nicki was flexible and able to make that happen. She took wonderful care of our dogs and sent lots of pics. We are very grateful!
She did a wonderful job. Great communication. I would definitely recommend Nicki to anyone!
I would highly recommend Nicki if you're looking for someone to look after your fur baby. Nicki was very attentive to my dog and ensured she settled in nicely in her home. She provided updates throughout the day on how my dog was doing. I knew my dog was in good hands so I could relax and enjoy my vacation. Thank you Nicki!!!

It is critical to give the dogs plenty of attention and love, which isn't hard. They need to know that someone is there for them when they are lonely and missing their family. We include them on our daily routine.

Information Nicki P. would like to know about your pet
I like to know the energy level of your dog. My dogs are older and more sedentary, so I prefer to watch dogs that are older and more sedentary as well. I like to schedule a meet and greet with your dog at my house where the dogs will do their initial meeting in the backyard. This is more of a neutral area for our dogs to meet and they can also run around and get some of their initial anxiety out before coming into the house. Does your pup have any health concerns, dietary restrictions, anxiety, medication, or specific routines? Where does your dog sleep? Where does your dog stay during the day when you are gone? I have a three-seasons porch and a kennel where a nervous dog could stay when I am gone. Dogs are allowed on the furniture in my house. Many dogs that visit us like to look out the big picture window out front or sit on the three-seasons porch and look at the backyard. Some smaller dogs like to sit in the recliners by the big picture window as well. My dogs sleep with me and some visiting dogs have joined them, while others sleep on a dog bed next to my bed. Other dogs may sleep with my 20 year old son who works with a variety of dogs at his job. I want dogs staying with me to be spayed or neutered. If your dog is high energy or likes to show dominance, this is probably not the best fit. Older dogs are always welcome. We have plenty of dog toys and plenty of dog beds. We also give a lot of belly rubs!
A typical day
We give a lot of belly rubs at our house. We have a big picture window in the front of our house that the dogs love to sit in front of and watch what happens. For smaller dogs, there is a couch they can climb onto that oversees the windows in front. We also have a three-seasons porch where dogs can sit and relax in the fresh air while still being inside. We sometimes also use this as a place to separate the dogs when we aren't home. Some dogs prefer to sit out there part or most of the day.
