Xl and Special Pets, My Specialty

Pet care experience

I care about animals as if they were humans. Food and water aren't enough; pets need to have fun! I love making pets comfortable, confident, and ensuring that they feel totally safe inside the house and out. My own dog shows this, and I'm very proud of him. I've taken 2 training courses myself at Charles River Dog Training Academy, as well as 2 at All About My Dog. The rest of my experience has come in hands on caring for a couple of big and special needs dogs I know. I can capably walk up to about 300 pounds of dog in total! Positive reinforcement only! You either get a treat or you don't. And your neighbors won't even know we were there because I always clean up waste. My first dog was a Boston terrier who was incredibly easy to train and care for. My current buddy is bigger, stronger, and a bigger challenge. But that's exactly what I wanted. Of course, I can walk your dogs on their own without mine.

Nick is a terrific dog sitter. He house-sat for us for five days and took care of our elderly dog. He is very sensitive to dogs with special needs and is also very detailed in what he needs to do. He really went over and beyond for us! He even checked in with us afterward to make sure all was well with our house. We will definitely book again!

Nick is a great dog walker. He cares for my special needs (blind & reactive) dog with no problems. He’s punctual, reliable, and communicative. I trust him completely with her care.

Nicholas did a great job walking Fenway. He was always punctual and very knowledgeable about handling a high energy dog. Fenway was clearly happy to see him, which shows she enjoyed her walks with Nicholas. We will continue to have Nicholas walk Fenway when we need it.

Whatever you need, I can do. I can offer your dog a recovery ward, a fun house to visit, a show ring pitstop, or just a fella who drops by and leaves the dog happy. I'm ready to take on the challenging dogs here on Rover, however 99 percent of dogs are just..... terrific! I find that pets just want me to jog for an hour, and maybe feed and snuggle for another. Easy peasy. My best experience comes from dogs that were 100 pounds plus, poorly trained, and had behavioral issues. When I take care of dogs who are quote unquote, "normal," I don't even get tired. I could do it all day. The first woman who trained me was doing competition showing at the time with her blue ribbon winning Dalmation. She showed me how to change bandages, trim nails, apply canker powder to ears, and how to clean dog, umm, waste fluids, out of anything. In short, I can care for your pet above and beyond the everyday needs if necessary, or just have a nice walk. Thanks for reading!

Information Nicholas H. would like to know about your pet

I just need to know what your buddy can and can't eat, their energy level, how they like to be pet, any trails or parks they love, and If there's anything or any place you would like me to avoid.

A typical day

I will take your pal on walks, play dog games, provide some nature time, and I can bring your pet to my informal playgroup, if you want. If you'd prefer me to keep it one on one, I can do that.

I have friends with whom I can leave my dog for a few days if I go out of town, but for the most part we're a two man comedy team. My dog is either on the road with me, at a play date, or snuggling constantly. No being left in the crate. I take a few minutes to run with him every hour if I'm at a jobsite, or at the computer that day. The only crate I use is in my car !
