Pet care experience
I’m a three-time dog owner currently with two Great Pyrs (I had a Golden Retriever many years ago). I love training and spending time with dogs, especially ones from rough backgrounds (which have caused them to become dog-aggressive and/or misunderstood). I have extensive experience with puppies, extra-large dog breeds, and both professional K-9 and loose-leash walking styles. I also have some veterinary clinic and guide dog puppy training volunteer background. I’ve done some anthropology volunteer work abroad and—you guessed it—worked with dogs and cats (and goats) while there! I sincerely believe in building a mutually respectful relationship/friendship with dogs rather than forcing a dominant-submissive hierarchy. First and foremost, I love to feel out a dog’s personality and adjust my walking/training/playing style to what suits them best. I would be more than happy to work with dogs/cats of any behavioral range, age, or size (trust me, I mean ANY SIZE—my dogs are horses!). My pups are my entire life, my best friends, my whole world, and I’ll treat your dogs with the same respect and love. Please feel free to reach out with questions! :)
Reviews
Scruffy just loved Navya and his walk. He sometimes is anxious with strangers but not with Navya! He (and I) are looking forward to his next walk with her! Liza Rasmussen
Excellent and a pleasure to have you care for our pet. Thanks for your help.
She came on time and was ver sweet with my dog
Navya is a very responsible and loving pet owner and pet caretaker. I trust her completely with the care of any of my pets. She is diligent and thoughtful with great animal care intuition. I love her!

I am super flexible, and more than happy to follow any rules and suggestions the owner has for walks and check-ins. After all, you know your dog best! At home, I have two Great Pyrs—some of the most independent, stubborn dogs. I’ve figured out the most effective ways to crate them, feed them, amuse them, walk them, and keep them safe (from both external things and themselves)! Even with the most stubborn of dogs, there’s a way to encourage them with positive reinforcement (and avoid treat-dependence). Snakes and heat are a big concern in this area, so I’m always hyper-aware of the small things when taking care of dogs. I’ll be sure to protect your dog’s mental and physical health above all!
Information Navya H. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your dog has any special accommodations, or is aggressive/averse to other dogs. I’m more than happy to work around those, just let me know in advance! :)
A typical day
I’m a big fan of hikes or walks that mentally-stimulate dogs. For herding and herd-protection dogs, mental stimulation is vital, so walking somewhere interesting is important. For high-energy dogs, a big open space to jog around (on-leash, of course) is real tiring! And for dogs that need socialization but may be afraid of it or react badly to other dogs, a nice, empty spot where they can watch other dogs from a distance is great!

Availability
I am available Monday-Friday at most times, although I prefer to begin after 10am. I am more than happy to work out a time in the mornings or on the weekends, if needed! I have plenty of time—my only commitment over the summer is a small internship.
