Hi! I grew up with two Gordon Setters (brothers) who both lived to the age of 16. They were hunting dogs, so bird-crazy that they'd chase a seagull for miles until they reached the ocean, only to jump in continue their chase swimming. They were great dogs, even though they'd bark me up every morning to take them out. Despite their craziness they were also incredibly sweet. Such as the fact that even in their old age - when they could no longer walk - they would do anything to not go in the house. I would carry them outside to use the bathroom, and despite the embarrassed look on their faces you could tell they appreciated the help. After having lived without a dog for six years I decided to adopt my boy Dusty, and all the way from Thailand I might add (sounds crazy right?). It took a lot of patience waiting for him to adjust to not only me, but to a completely different environment (he was so uncomfortable he would only go to the bathroom every three days or so). But he adjusted well, and actually started to love the couch more than anything. Sadly though he passed away this past April after a traumatic episode. He fought for ten days in critical care before regressing. His mind wasn't at all there so I couldn't truly say goodbye to him, but I laid on his chest when I gave the Vet the go. It had been just the two of us for almost two years. He was my best friend, and I'm still heartbroken. So in short, I love dogs, and cats for that matter, and it might also be good for me to have some interaction given recent events. I'm happy to make whatever accommodations are necessary to make you and your pup/kitty happy!
