Pet care experience
When I was 11, my mom got my sister and me a Welsh Corgi puppy for christmas. As he turned 2 we decided to enroll him in a dog training course provided by a nearby Petsmart. He successfully graduated, and was a loving member of our family until his passing at 13 years of age. During my second year of high school I volunteered to raise a puppy from the Canine Companions for Independence, a non-profit organization that raises and trains certified puppies to become assistant dogs for those with disabilities regarding mobility, such as those in wheelchairs or with Multiple Sclerosis. Due to the dog's gentle nature she was then reassigned as a breeding dog where she gave birth to 5 litters. I helped my mom kennel the puppies and raise them until the designated age of 8 weeks when they are sent back to the Company's headquarters to be assigned to other puppy raisers. Nowadays I help my mom look after a retired CCI dog and their new corgi puppy when they are busy at work.
