I grew up with two cats and learned how to take care of them from an early age. When I was 15, my family got our first dog—a two year old shelter hound-mutt named Buster. I was the primary care taker since my sister was too young and my parents were always working, and I quickly learned how to walk, feed, bathe, and love a wild, highly energetic dog that had previously been abused. Since I moved to DC in 2018, I have been the main caretaker of several friend’s dogs (a lab, a doodle, and a mutt) whenever they go on weekend trips, but finally decided to officially join Rover! I currently work from home in a full-time job where my schedule is very predictable. I usually spend my mornings before work exercising, and then almost always wind up having several free hours in the middle of the day and in the late afternoon. I am more than willing to change my schedule around, however, if opportunities arise to care for pets, and my work would not get in the way of that. My job is blissfully very flexible so long as I find time to meet my requirements. While my lease isn’t suitable for overnight dog stays, I have a fenced in backyard (about 30 feet) in which a dog can enjoy themselves while I am taking care of them. Otherwise, I am an active person who loves going on walks around DC. Down to the mall, through Logan and DuPont circle, to various dog parks around DC—you name it, and I like to go there. If dog sitting in the owner’s home, I will ensure to follow their house rules, leave minimal trace I was there, and make the dog feel as comfortable as possible.
