Your pets are my pets!
Pet care experience
A pet lover and animal welfare advocate from birth, I've lived with a diverse array of pets my entire life. I spent 10 years in veterinary medicine, serving as a veterinary technician in private practice and at the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. I've been and remain a volunteer for animal welfare organizations in Philadelphia and Los Angeles, and currently reside in the South Bay with two of the smartest, sweetest, most adorable dogs known to mankind! I have extensive experience caring for pets of all kinds, with a particular focus on dogs and cats, and comfort with birds (including chickens), rabbits, snakes and other 'exotic' species. I'm especially fond of senior and special needs pets, having shared my home with several throughout my lifetime. I'm comfortable administering medications - oral, injectable and topical - and confident handling pets with 'behavior issues'. I truly believe there are no 'bad pets', just those who haven't yet found people who understand and can relate to them. My greatest joy comes from spending time with and helping pets and people connect in a positive manner and share the unconditional love everyone deserves!
Reviews
Nancy is the best! Always thoughtful and willing to help.
We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Nancy and would be happy to have her walk Gracie again. She arrives when she promises to arrive, takes great care of our girl, and keeps us up to date with Gracie's day.
Thanks again, Nancy. This review is long over due. You were very efficient in watching Adam. You always update me through pictures on what is going on in each of your visits and make sure everything is okay with him. You are awesome! ?
Could not have had a better experience with Nancy. She came a week early to meet hazel and make sure it was a match on very short notice. She is calm and gentle with our dog who is young and moves a million miles an hour. She kept in great contact with us through out her visits and Hazel seemed to have a blast. Will definitely book again!

Information Nancy L. would like to know about your pet
I'd like to know as much as possible about your pets' routine, in order to be able to replicate it as closely as possible in your absence. What times and what do you feed your pet(s), when and where do you take them for play and exercise (if applicable), how long have your pets been with you, what is the energy level of your pet(s), how do you normally communicate with them (e.g., do you talk to your pets a lot, are they accustomed to hand signals, etc.), how do you show affection and/or approval to your pet(s)? Are there places or things in your home that are absolutely 'off base' for your pet(s)? A word about rates: Rover doesn't allow for much customization, which leads to a 'one size fits all' rate posted for each service. These rates do not include the additional fees I charge for pets who need medical treatments, e.g., oral medication, injections, etc. These fees vary depending on (a) the type of treatment (b) the frequency of treatment and (c) the receptivity of your pet to the treatment. If you have a pet with medical needs, please just let me know up front and I will be happy to provide a customized quote for you.
A typical day
Many pets get anxious when their owners are away and strangers come to care for them. I would prefer to meet your pet(s) at least once prior to stepping into your shoes while you're away, and am happy to care for your furbaby the same way you do, as much as possible. Whether that means going for long, slow walks, or quick zips around the block and back, going for hikes in the hills or to breathe in the ocean air, playing a great game of fetch in your home or yard, or just enjoying lots of snuggle time to soothe and relax your buddy as best I can - please just let me know how I can help!
