I'm a GREAT pack leader!
Pet care experience
If you are looking for a home where someone is home 90% of the time and will attend to your baby as their own, look no further! I'm fully, 100% vaccinated, as are my pets and as 2023 ends, am looking to care for smaller dogs, under 25lbs. possible exceptions will be made, especially if you've booked with me previously. I work from home as a Veterinary Consultant for Veterinary practices across the US and Canada and will take care of your sweetie as if they were part of my own family. Your sweetie will be welcomed with blankets and pillows and chew toys and will even have his/her own bed, or sleep with the pack on my very large bed. I love ALL dogs and am a dog person. I understand how they communicate and am able to recognize their needs and anticipate those needs so they are not stressed, can enjoy time away from their routine and have fun! I really enjoy older dogs who need a little extra care and attention and someone who can focus on their care! My home is equipped with the dog appeasing pheromones, Adaptil to keep your dog calm during the possible stress of being away from you. If your dog has anxiety or is sensitivities to changes in their environment, Adaptil will help! As will my peaceful and calm environment, complete with a working, running fountain in my living room and wonderful wall of windows overlooking the Willamette River with southern views toward the Sellwood Bridge. Also on hand is Rescue Remedy, an all natural homeopathic stress reliever for dogs. For older dogs I also have the high-end Dasuquin with MSM treats, a joint health supplement tif hat really helps dog's joints and gets them moving better with less pain. As well as heated dog beds to help ease those achy joints. I LOVE OLDER DOGS!!! OMG! I have so much affinity for them! And if you're needing a long term reservation (two weeks or more) A OK with me! Seriously! I'm happy to have long term reservations too! :) My love for dogs is obvious in how I care for them. I pay attention to them, observe them. Listen to them. Play with them. Talk with them. I am their person when they are with me. I've cared for a lot of dogs, and I know how to create a stress-free environment conducive for a stress-free visit. I'm not afraid to put myself in harm's way to protect any dog from impending pain or discomfort. I don't get mad at dogs (or much of anything really) and understand their ways of communicating. We'll go on walks about every 4 hours (that how often I take mine out) during the day and only sleep about 6 hours each night. I will abide by any existing schedule your pet has to keep them comfortable and knowing what to expect while you're away. If you are a first time Rover.com user, please use this promo code at the time of booking to receive a $20 discount on your first visit with me! NANCYG32701 My normal schedule for pets is approximately 8 am to 5pm. If you need to drop off before then, or pick up after that, please let me know. I'm happy to accomodate your needs, however, on Rover, if you have to pick up after on the pick up, I will need to charge a day care fee of $25 due to the fact that I will be, in fact, watching your dog for more than normal and usual times. I live on the 15th floor of a high-rise apartment building just south of Portland. I use Fresh Patch grass pads on the wrap around balcony so your pet is always steps away from grass for doing their business. As well, a lovely park is directly across the street, and 4 blocks away is a secure, members only, dog park, which I am a member.
Reviews
Thanks for being so prompt with communication, Nancy! Once again Chilli had a great time!
Chilli has had lots of overnights with Nancy and is always excited to see her every time we arrive. Each stay Nancy will send a few photos and it’s great to see Chilli settled in and looking happy. Thanks Nancy for being there for our sweet girl.
Nancy G. cancelled a booking 4 days before it was scheduled to begin.
Nancy is the best!

I have found that maintaning a close approximation of the dog's existing schedule really helps them acclimate to a new environment. So I will want to know what that schedule is, where they sleep etc. in an effort to maintain their existing schedule.

Information Nancy G. would like to know about your pet
I'd like to know their demeanor. Their weight. Their vaccination history. I would very much like to see pic's of your pet so I can see who they are! Knowing their existing schedule, and how they get along with other dogs is helpful, too. Their potty schedule and tendencies (do they have accidents? It's ok if they do, I just want to be prepared!) Also, where does your pet sleep? I am COMPLETELY OK with your pet sleeping with the pack in my bed (would prefer it actually), but if you have them on a different routine, I will abide by that, I just need to know what that is? And lastly their personality, what do they like, not like, enjoy, not enjoy. May I feed them treats? I will never feed any dog human food. If there are less favorable traits, please let me know, so I'm aware of it, and take steps to remedy them or so I can be aware of them to help remedy the issue. But the more information I have about your pet, the better I am able to be the best sitter I can be!
A typical day
I like to get on the ground and play with all dogs. Nearby there is a fully fenced dog park we visit as well along the Willamette River where we'll walk almost all of the time. I have many chew toys and ropes to play with when we're inside as well as blankets, beds, and pillows.

Availability
Working PT from home, I keep regular working hours, with the occasional Dr.appt. etc. but never gone from the house longer than 3 hours max, so I am easily available and attentive to the needs of all dogs in my care.
