Kind, experienced pet care for dogs and cats

Pet care experience

I regret that I cannot accept boarding or daycare clients as my building does not allow animals; however, I can provide sitting services in clients' homes as well as walks/feeding. My experience with dogs has been extensive over the last decade plus: + I have lived with and cared for my family's rescue greyhounds + I am trained in canine first aid + I have carried out work experience with the Hearing Dogs for the Deaf - participating in training sessions and caring for 20+ dogs in training kennels, including walking, feeding, playtime, non-assistance training and grooming + I have worked for a pet shop, doggy daycare and grooming parlour + I have undertaken a large amount of independent dog-sitting before discovering Rover, caring for breeds including: greyhound, spaniel (English springer and cocker), Rhodesian ridgeback, miniature schnauzer, rough collie. I have done extensive reading regarding animal behaviour and training, particularly regarding dogs and clicker training, and am working on financing professional qualifications in this direction. I am confident with both collar and harness walking (including head "haltie" collars, martingale collars, and both front and back attached body harnesses). I will NOT use prong collars, shock collars, choke chains or any other punitive devices. I am confident with strong pullers or reactive dogs, but I reserve the right to ask for a 'test' walk with the dog and owner to see the extent of the issue before confirming any booking. Any such issues MUST be disclosed before booking is confirmed and paid. I will not walk dogs belonging to multiple clients at the same time, but can walk up to 3 large/medium or 4 small dogs at the same time. Please enquire regarding multiple giant breed dogs. DBS checked.

Nadia was absolutely great with Juliano! She took the time to get to know him and also get him comfortable around her. He came home happy and tired, and we received lots of photos. Already booked Nadia again :)

Safety, trust & environment

I do not look after animals in my own home but have tons of experience looking after my clients' animals in their own homes and I'm well-versed in all sorts of security arrangements, including keeping animals separate who don't get on, getting out of the front door without escapes, crating if desired, and not leaving pets unsupervised while I'm visiting. A number of my clients have entrusted me with their keys on a semi-permanent basis and this has never presented a problem.

Information Nadia A. would like to know about your pet

Any behavioural issues like dog-dog reactivity or human reactivity are vital to know about beforehand. It also helps me to know if a dog is particularly likely to scavenge or eat gross things on walks so I can be extra vigilant, though I'm not in the habit of letting dogs scavenge on walks in any case. If your animals have favourite toys/games/scritch spots, that's always good to know. And please let me know if your animal has any anxiety triggers or doesn't like being touched etc. for the animal's welfare and my safety.

A typical day

Physical and mental stimulation are both so important. I make sure to offer opportunities for games, environment-exploring ("sniffaris"), training practice if so desired, and cuddles. Obviously the precise mix will be tailored for the animals in my care. My favourite walks are Addiscombe Park, Lloyd Park and Addiscombe Rec Ground.
