Fun and Loving Veterinary Tech

Pet care experience

I have experience working with pets in the medical field for 5 yrs now, and love every minute of it. It has made me understand so much more about dog and cat behavior, as well as what to look for when pets don’t feel good and need medical attention.I have had the opportunity to babysit for my friends and family pets and clients from my hospital. They trust me, because they know how much I love animals. They see how their beloved pet reacts when they see me. They see the love I give and it's reciprocal. It's an inside joke, that I rather go say hi to the dogs or cats first than the humans. Lol. I like to spend time with them and play with them. What pet doesn't love the attention? I have loved all types of dogs since I can remember. I have always wanted to rescue each one I would see on the street. I think what fascinates me about them, is how much potential they have and how much they love to please you. I have seen so many dogs transition to be such great pets; just because you believed in them and gave them a second chance. That brings joy to my life. I have had many pets, but I admit that dogs have a special place in my heart. I have owned several throughout the years. I currently own one dog, an old 13 yr. old male pug named Tubby and I have recently become obsessed with cats again, which 3 run the household. Suki, Squigs, and Rahli. I also volunteer at the animal shelter in Long Beach. I go there twice a week. I have volunteered there for almost 5 years now. I am a rescue partner, which is someone who socializes dogs and applies some basic training for dogs and cats; to help them find homes and also promote them to rescues. I really enjoy it. I have also fostered dogs and cats in the past through a rescue group based in Orange County. This is another way I can help find homes for dogs, and give them a second chance. It's been an amazing experience.

Myrna was very gracious to have a meet and greet with my dogs. She was easy to talk to and I could tell how much she enjoys dogs. Myrna was very thorough and attentive to details. She noticed the bowl of water in the kitchen and said she would fill it if it was low. She even volunteered to pick up the dog mess, which goes above and beyond a drop in visit! (I declined her offer.). She played ball with the dogs during her visit and took the time to dry them off after two of them got into the pool. I asked Myrna to text me to let me know how the initial greeting went when she arrived at the house. She not only let me know about the greeting, but she sent pictures of the dogs playing. It's nice to have someone like Myrna with whom you can trust to take care of your dogs.

Mryna was a great host! We did a meet and greet with her two dogs. They were very friendly with my lab. I was a little concerned because my dog doesn't do too well with other dogs, but she was very caring. She sent me 2-3 updates every day along with pictures so I knew my girl was happy. Would definitely book with her again!

I have had my dog Katie for 11 years and never left her so I was a little nervous about leaving her with someone. I highly recommend Myrna. She went above and beyond. Taking her on walks, sending me pictures and updates every day, and even buying her a dog toy. She is an exceptional dog sitter and I would DEFINITELY use her again and recommend her.... She is the best!!!!!

Safety, trust & environment

My style of dog sitting is a fun and active one. I really enjoy taking dogs for walks at the park, or hiking, or around the neighborhood. A stimulating environment is always great for dogs and cats. I love to be playful and silly with my pets, so if the dogs temperament allows it; then I will definitely be that. I am loving and nurturing. I don't mind cuddling and giving kisses and belly rubs. I love giving affection. My dogs love massages too. I try to keep pets active and try to engage their attention with learning activities or old fashioned playtime, such as fetch or tug o war. It all depends on the dog and what they are capable of. I try to fit the needs of every pet. If the owner just wants a more relax and easy going environment, then that is something I can definitely do as well. But even older dogs like to play and be silly. The most important thing for a clients dog stay at my home or theirs is their safety. I have set up some boundaries in my home for my dogs and if my client has their own, I will respect those boundaries. This is just for all dogs and cats safety. It is best to prevent any type of accident. I always make sure that dogs are being supervised in any room they are in, this also applies when they are outdoors.

Information Myrna M. would like to know about your pet

There are some things I would like to know before I make a decision in staying at your home or any other services. First of all, the most common and important question is; is your dog good with other dogs? Now, most people will say yes. But it is important to add, are they comfortable with all types of dogs? Some dogs may feel comfortable with big dogs or only little dogs. I know that my dogs are good with all different types and sizes. I also need to know if they have any special needs, such as illness or disability. Do they need special care? They may not be allowed around other dogs. Would this be the first time you leave your dog in someone else’s care? If this is the case, then I would recommend that I meet your dog first or a couple of times, before the actual stay. This will help the process and they will become more familiar with their babysitter. Do you have other pets? Do you live in a house or apartment? Is there parking? Or easy access to parking? I will not provide services if your pet has any of the following issues: *excessive barking *any display or type of aggression *unruly behavior; no control I also ask for clients to leave care instructions on the itinerary on Rover's website. Thank you.

A typical day

I am someone you can trust, who will be kind and loving to your pets while you are away. I will care for them, like if they were my own. I won't just sit around, I always play and walk with my dogs, and would do the same with yours or any other pet. I usually like to take dogs on a neighborhood walk early in the morning. I'm a morning person, so I like to get up early and work out with my dogs, to start the day. I will also go to hiking trails near by or dog parks. In the summer, I usually take my dogs to the dog beach. I plan this ahead, so I would definitely ask a clients permission, if I can bring their dog along. I love to do play sessions with my dogs. I usually play fetch, flirt pole, and tug o war. And water activities in the summer. I also just like to hang out with my dogs in my room, for some relax time. I like to give them massages and some basic grooming. I also have short training sessions with my dogs to reinforce appropriate behavior. If a client wants me to work on some training that their dog is learning at the moment, I can help to work on it during their stay. It is important that I make clear that every dog has different needs, so I will follow whatever needs my client requests for their dog. The most important thing for a clients dog stay at my home or theirs is their safety.
