Since I was a little girl my mom needed help caring for all our dogs. She was a dog breeder which means I grew up around dogs of different kinds and natures my entire life. You learn "dog language", if they're happy, sad, scared, etc., and ways to handle them that makes them feel more comfortable and will ensure trust. I strongly believe you can bond with any animal in time and that it is important to do so before engaging in any activity, especially ones that don't include their mom and dad! I am willing to spend nights at clients homes if that is the only way their pets feel safe, we all struggle with anxiety at times!! However, I have a very sweet girl at home that is a Border Collie/ Shepard mix and couldn't hurt a fly. She loves all animals and could be a great way to open your dog(s) up to others if socializing is something they may struggle with. She also doesn't mind spending some time at grandmas if your pet prefers to be alone or needs extra attention! Besides her, It's just my boyfriend and I (and our budgie, Oliver twist) that live at home. I'm not working at the moment so I am, for the most part, on call 24/7!
