We hired Aurelia to look after our cat during the Christmas holidays. She took good care of our cat (including some great photos) and left our home in great shape. We did encounter some challenges with Aurelia's communication. It was not made clear to us ahead of time that she had multiple other job commitments, leading her to be away from our home for extended periods of time (14+ hours many days). We communicated up front that our cat experiences separation anxiety, and had hoped he would receive more consistent companionship. Our cat had also recently had a health scare, so it was important for our sitter to keep us up to date on his eating and other habits. In hindsight we should have made sure to be more specific with Aurelia about our expectations. Early in our stay there were lapses in Aurelia's communication that necessitated us prompting her for updates, and at times her responses to our inquiries were vague and/or delayed by hours without clear explanation. A few days into our stay, we reset expectations and she gave us a clearer view of circumstances affecting her availability. Had we known her schedule up front we would have come in with different expectations, and timely notice of unexpected circumstances would have helped us feel like we were in the loop. These would have made us experience less worry for this part of the stay. We had also requested daily photo updates (by a certain time of day because we were in a different time zone). Even after resetting expectations, there were some lapses in this causing us to prompt her for updates. In a few cases, her responses were delayed beyond what her schedule implied. Aurelia is dedicated and caring, but may be overextended. I would recommend future clients have an upfront discussion about her availability and to set expectations. We appreciate her efforts in keeping our cat happy and healthy and wish Aurelia the best.
