The first thing I ask for is the dog's routine. I think it is important to keep a dog in a similar routine while their owner is away to keep them from feeling totally displaced by the absence. I will ask food schedule, bathroom schedule, favorite toys, allergies, temperament, especially towards other dogs as well as children. I will also request a layout of the home in case I need to find anything of the dog's. I will also need to know if the dog has any special needs when it comes to their day to day activities. Finally, emergency contacts: owner, backup number for a close family member, vet services contacts.

Depending on the dog's activity level, I love to play fetch and go on long walks with my dogs. I will usually look for local dog-friendly walking paths near the dog's home. Some of my favorites near me are the marsh walking trails.
