I like to make sure I am aware of any & all health issues (shot record, pains, meds, etc.), aggitations/dispositions (loud noises, food aggressions, thunderstorms, etc.) & personalities (hyper, shy, anxious, etc.).

I like to give them a good play or run/walk (depending on size, age, health and/ or other specifics to be considered), and then let them curl up in a favorite spot of their choice for a little snooze before then either having a snack (again, dependent on owner wishes, age, health, etc.) and then play some more. Really, I try to keep them happy & content (especially in the beginning due to obvious fears, agitation and/or anxieties from being away from familiar faces and surroundings), so that they warm up to it being their home away from home. However, health & quality of life are the utmost consideration to be sure they are not being over fed, left to their own or just lying around all day. We do trips to the park, dog parks (if owner approved) & play in the sunshine in your fenced back yard. And, we don't trip on the small stuff. We speak kindly and respectfully, as they are just another member of our tribe, and positive reinforcement brings about better and more positive outcomes.
