I love your pets just like my own!

Pet care experience

I have extensive experience with pets of all shapes, sizes, ages, breeds, types, colors, and temperaments. I have owned dogs, cats, turtles, frogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and a lizard. (I once had a pet worm in an animal cracker box. I thought he would like living in a little zoo.) And since I’ve been a homeowner and renter, I know how to care for your property, too! ☆ NOTE ☆ {Re: house-and-pet sitting availability. } ☆Beginning 3/1/24, I am working Monday through Thursday in Brentwood, TN from 9 AM until 5 PM with a 1-hour lunch break if needed. I am still available to pet and home sit anytime. However, I will be away for at least two 4-hour periods Monday through Thursday.☆☆ For 7 years I took care of my mom as well as 5 dogs and 2 cats. During that time, I also worked as a foster volunteer for Music City Pug Rescue–most of which were geriatric surrenders whose owners had passed away or moved into a nursing facility. While I questioned my own sanity at the time, looking back now, those were some of the very best days of my life! Today I only have one dog, Marley, (my lucky charm rescue–a Tibetan Terrier who was just hours away from euthanasia when I saw his picture online) and I am renting my home. So while I can't board your pets, I am happy to take care of them at their own home! Sadly I have lost pets to terrible chronic illnesses like cancer and diabetes. I've been through two torn ACL surgeries, one hip surgery, blindness, deafness, and incontinence. My current pup, little Marley, has been paralyzed twice. The first time, I was able to afford an expensive back surgery. But when it happened again six months post-op, I rehabilitated him myself. Now, 6 years later, he's still walking! I thank God every morning and night for giving me another day with him. My experience caring for all of these dogs and their health problems means that I know how to care for their special needs. Whether it's taking a dog to weekly chemo treatments or giving him two shots of insulin each day, I am capable of caring for your pets and promise to do so just like they are my own. Whether it's for a few minutes, a few days, or even a few weeks, I would love to spoil your pet(s) with lots of hugs, and kisses. Not to mention walks, toys, fur brushings, head massages, playtimes, and treats–at your request, of course! Plu$, I am always willing to work with you on rates, so don't hesitate to make an offer. No matter the price, I promise to give you the best service possible. ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ **EXTRA, EXTRA! 🎄🤶CHRISTMAS CARDS 🎅🎄 CHRISTMAS GIFTS 🎄🤶 I can design and print holiday cards and deliver them directly to you! Need a 🎁 GIFT for a pet lover? I can help!! 🧧 💰I can create a special GIFT CERTIFICATE for any of my services (final booking will be based on availability) I photograph 📷 and paint 🖌 images of pets and imprint the artwork on a huge variety of items and gifts: 🐶 Cards 👕 T-shirts 🖼 Posters 🖻 Framed or unframed canvas designs 🍺 Mugs 🐶 Magnets 💰 Shopping bags 🦮 Placemats 🎽 Hoodies 🐕 Dog, cat, and pet T-shirts 🕮 Photo album books Please take a look at the photos in my profile for artwork examples! ADDITIONAL ITEMS AVAILABLE • I also work with a silversmith who will create a precious keepsake nose print charm for you to wear close to your heart! • If your pet has crossed Rainbow Bridge, she can even incorporate a tablespoon of ashes into the bespoke jewelry piece. • I create keepsake charms made of tiny glass tubes filled with ashes, puppy teeth, clips of hair, whiskers, or even kitty claws. I can include his or her birthstone gem, glass beads, or teeny shells to give your baby's memory a beautiful interment environment! ** If you're interested in any of those extras, let me know!! ***If you think this is weird, please ignore this part of my profile. 😀

We are so grateful to have had Monica house sit and stay with two, high-maintenance newfoundlands over the holidays! Monica is joyful, communicative, and detail-oriented. We came back to a very clean house and happy pups. Thank you, Monica!!!!

Monica’s communication with me was impeccable. I can’t say enough good things about her care for our animals. I was impressed with her kindness, willingness to help and her love and concern for our animals. I highly recommend her.

Monica took great care of my two kitties while I was gone! She kept me well updated and and made sure I didn’t have to worry about my babies while I was away!

I will treat your canine and/or feline fur babies (or scaly ones!) just like they're my own. Likewise, I will care for your home with respect and with the utmost confidentiality. I can be as discreet as you need me to be, or I can take your pets to visit their friends if that's what you want me to do. For at-home pet sitting, I will meet with you and your pets beforehand to give you peace of mind. We can get as detailed as you want. Whether you give me a typed document outlining their care plan, or just hand me a key and tell me when to stop by, I am happy to accommodate you either way!

Information Monica W. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know about any special needs your dog may have. If he has a condition that requires medications that needs to be given, I am happy to help out. I suggest Pill Pockets for medication that is taken by mouth. If your pet is diabetic and requires insulin shots, please let me know where all of the supplies are located and the area(s) on the dog's body that are preferable for sticks. I've had so many dogs throughout my life, many of which were elderly dogs when I adopted them. However, most of my caretaking experience involved two little terrier mixes that I adopted as babies - weeks old! Brother and Sister. At the age of four, the little boy, Jake, was sitting in my lap as I was working on my computer, when I felt a small lump under his chin on his neck. He was diagnosed with lymphoma. Luckily I had insurance and was able to help extend his way-too-short life by another year through bi-weekly chemo treatments. I lost him 9 months later. He was my soulmate and I have never had a breakdown like I had the day I picked up his ashes. His sister, Sissie, was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of seven. Jake was my soulmate, and Sissy had my heart. I was wrapped around her little pinky-paw! Every morning as I got ready for work, she would come sit at the bathroom door staring at me until I picked her up, held her tight, and sang to her "I LOOOOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUOOOOOUUU", to which we would sort of howl the "you" part. I have at least 15 videos of this saved. She literally says "I love you, MAMA" in a couple of them. Plain as day! I had to give her insulin shots twice a day in her tiny little body. Not a day goes by that I don't suffer the loss of Jake and Sissie. If there is any benefit to this story, it is that I am experienced with different caregiving needs and am happy to abide by your instructions.

A typical day

If you choose me to help with your pet’s care, I will keep them in their normal routine as much as possible. Whether it’s eating and drinking, peeing and pooping, walking a specific route on a leash, or playing fetch in the backyard, these are the things that I will do. Dogs are creatures of habit and are much happier to stay at home and keep up their usual routine than they are to stay in a strange room or, even worse, a crate in a wall. Not only does this confuse them and interrupt their routine, but it can make them physically ill. Have you ever noticed that it takes a few days for your dog to settle down and start eating normally again after staying in a kennel. Some dogs get mad at their owners and “act out” as a result. They might soil your shoes, chew up your dirty socks, empty a trash can on the floor, or even run and hide from you! That being said, I promise that if I take care of your pets while you are away, they will greet you with joy, excitement, and love when you come home! DID YOU KNOW… * A dog's sense of smell is 10,000 to 100,000 times more acute than a human's. Dogs can smell YOUR EMOTIONS, drugs, cancer, epilepsy, truffles, etc. * Dogs hear nearly twice as many frequencies as humans. They can also hear sounds four times further away. * Cats can hear sounds up to 64,000 Hz. We can hear frequencies of up to 20,000 Hz, which falls to about 12,000–15,000 Hz as we age. So about three times higher than humans. * Cats’ sense of smell is 14 times better than that of humans!
