A dog owner every day of my life!
Pet care experience
I have extensive training in dog behavior as well as dog grooming. 15 years ago I adopted a rescue who was aggressive towards other dogs, I worked relentlessly with dog trainers to improve his behavior. Our current dog went to puppy training classes for one year. For the past 15 years I have had big dogs, over 75 pounds. With big dogs comes the responsibility of learning about how dogs communicate their needs. Having kids in the home adds an extra layer of importance in educating yourself and the children about dogs and their behavior including their signs of stress or agitation. My kids have been raised with dogs and they treat them with kindness and respect. We love dogs! As a teen I worked for a year with Astrid Lawrence, a professional handler and the president of A Fur Affair Pet Grooming to learn how to handle show dogs and groom them. When I was younger I was an avid show dog handler and groomer for my Cocker Spaniel, Piper. In this time I mastered cleaning a dog’s ears , (a daily task with a Cocker Spaniel) trimming nails, grooming, and brushing.
Reviews
This was our first experience with Rover, or any dog walking service and we were so impressed with Monica! She is a wonderful communicator, very prompt, and took great care of our pup. We loved the pictures she sent from each walk! Highly recommend and definitely plan to use Monica again!
Monica was fantastic. Gordie was so happy to spend time with Monica. I really appreciate having Monica, who clearly loves puppies, care for Gordie.
Monica was amazing!! She took great care of my dog, and she was extremely communicative. I got great pupdates :)
Pets are as good as family with Monica! Her care and compassion for dogs, kids, people in general is amazing. I wouldn't think twice if I knew my babies were along with her on an adventure.

I have a fenced in yard and two very friendly children, (2 and 5) and a golden retriever who is 8 years old. Your dog will not be alone during the day, besides a run to the grocery store or dropping the kindergartener off at school. I am a stay at home mom and I enjoy spending the day at home cleaning, cooking, caring for my pet and children, and getting outside whenever we can.

Let me know if your dog has any special needs so that I can be accommodating. Although we get out with our dog most days, if your dog is elderly and needs to rest we are very open to cuddling at home or just providing company. While I do have small children in the home, I have an entire downstairs that your dog can hang out on the couch to get away from the kids if/when necessary. There is a doggy door that can be removed downstairs so they can have anytime access to the fenced in backyard. I have a lot of experience giving dog’s medication or caring for elderly dogs with special needs. I also have a lot of experience with puppies and understand each dogs specific need at different stages of life.
A typical day
We love to go to the off leash dog park near our home. If that is not something suitable to your dog, we can walk and sniff around our neighborhood, play ball in the yard, or do some fun training activities with treats! We can brush and groom, often dogs love to be showered with affection in this way and enjoy the special attention they get after being pampered and looking pretty. I think the best thing for its other than exercise, is love and affection, and the need extra when they’re owners are away.

My days start with letting the dog out in our fenced yard to go potty. While he is busy I fill up his water and his food. I’ll then fix breakfast and coffee for the rest of the family. Our drive to school is short, but we often bring Ruger as enjoys a car ride. Many times after school drop off we will head to a park for a walk on a leash or go to a dog park for Ruger to run. Then we’ll head home unless he got too dirty at the park and then we’ll go to tractor supply store for a dog wash and dry. Afterwards I’ll clean and put the toddler down for a nap and the dog can rest. I’ll be sure to let him out in the fenced yard often and make sure his water bowl is full. In the afternoon I usually throw ball for him in the yard while the kids play on our playground. At night he’ll have a dental chew, dinner, and a brushing before bed.
