My name is Monica and I have never known life without animal companions. I was born into a home with two cats and I got “my” first dog when I was 8 years old. After the trainer who my parents hired was too rough with him, I insisted to my parents that he never come back and I would train him myself. They were skeptical, but allowed it. I taught him to sit, stay, shake, lie down, roll over, and walk on his hind legs. My parents were so impressed that they encouraged me to offer my services to the neighbors. Soon I was walking and training dogs in my neighborhood for $2 at 8 years old. Fast forward; I am now 40 years old. I didn’t become the next Cesar Milan (though we share the same birthday). However, my love for animals has never waned. I continued dog, cat, and house sitting throughout my time at college and during my career for extra income, sometimes kid sitting as well.
