I'm from Massachusetts on an exchange program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa from Worcester State University. I am 20 years and a chemistry major. I grew up in a household with dogs, cats, bunnies, and guinea pigs. I learned how to care for and feed the pets at a very young age. For many years my family bred boxer dogs. I helped my dog deliver the puppies and gained a lot of experience with raising puppies. When I was in high school, I rescued a litter of kittens I found outside. The mom had been hit and killed by a car. The kittens were only two days old and I took them in and raised them. For years I have volunteered at multiple cat shelters. I was responsible for feeding and playing with the cats, as well as cleaning littering boxes. Along with my knowledge of taking care of animals, I have learned all about animal anatomy and veterinary care. Don't worry I will not try to be a vet with your animals, I am just pointing out my overall experience I have with animals. My senior year of high school I attended a two week veterinary camp at Tufts University in Massachusetts. At this camp I practiced bandaging and suturing, learned how to read x-rays, give a clinical exam to a dog, and work as a team to solve a challenging medical case. After that, I spent the year shadowing a local vet. I learned about animal behavior and general care. I currently have two cats and three dogs. My cats are four and five, and my dogs are one, two, and fifteen. Although I've taken care of animals my entire life, I put 5 years of experience because that is when I was old enough to care for them completely on my own.
