Life-long animal lover & caretaker!

Pet care experience

Having two amazing and talented veterinarians as parents, I practically grew up in a kennel and it’s no wonder I love animals as much as I do. I’ve taken care of horses, snakes, turtles, dogs, cats, etc from when I was just a little girl and currently have two cats who I absolutely adore. I am experienced at administering oral (pill or liquid) and topical medication to both cats and dogs, and have taken care of senior cats with extensive health problems. I also have a very strong stomach and have dealt with plenty of vomit, blood, diarrhea, urine, etc in my time. I have a keen eye and a lifetime of second-hand veterinary knowledge so I will know when/if a vet is needed in case of emergencies. My love and empathy for animals extends to my current position as an animal research assistant, working to save wildlife from the increasing threat of climate change. What sets me apart from other sitters is that I consider both the physical and mental well-being of your animals, and am always working hard to ensure they are getting the highest level of love, attention, and play time that they would receive from their owners!

Moira has such a deep love for animals and it showed through her care for my cat. She went above and beyond our care instructions and made sure our little guy was happy and comfortable while I was away. Couldn’t recommend her enough!

There is so much I could say about the care Moira provided for our dog and 2 cats while we had to be out of town. Although all of our pets are seniors, we had never needed to have a non-family member care for them in the past. One of our two cats was 18 and had a wide range of serious health issues requiring many different medications each day and lots of encouragement and enticement to eat. He was also having UTI and gastrointestinal issues at the time we needed her. She followed the very lengthy set of instructions, with times for medications to the letter. Because she had never given subcutaneous fluids before, we elected to have her take him to our vet each day for those but if we had sufficient time before our trip she would have been happy and capable to learn how to do those. His health situation required her to stay at our house nearly 24 hours a day and she was happy to comply and arrange her schedule to be able to do so. The care and concern she showed for our critically ill pet was so much more than I thought I could hope for. Leaving him was very stressful for us but she provided multiple updates each day on his situation and handled all of the additional problems resulting from his gastrointestinal issues with aplomb. Our other 2 pets did not require as much hands on care but she was diligent about their care as well, taking the dog for twice daily walks and alerting us to an encounter with one of the neighbor's dogs who was running loose. She left our house in immaculate condition and even went so far as to wash the towels she used! While we have no point of comparison, having never used a pet sitter before, I can't imagine finding anyone more caring and competent. We would give her our highest recommendation and be happy to use her for our pets' care anytime.

Moira would be a good fit to be a petsitter. She has had a lifelong experience with her own pets- cats, dogs and even a pet snake for a time. She was in our employ at our veterinary clinic during high school for kennel work and maintaining kennels and taking care of clients pets and walking hospitalized patients. She’s very friendly and has the empathy and compassion needed to work with animals and is a responsible person.

A typical day

For low-energy pets, I typically like to throw on a show I like and pet/cuddle/brush while watching TV. For higher energy pets, I use a variety of toys to play with them (fetch, tug-of-war, chase, cat wands, etc.). If the owner permits, I am also happy to spoil them with some treats!
