Pet care experience
I grew up with guinea pigs, a dog and a tortoise and stayed an animal lover all throughout my life, being surrounded with my flatmates' pets and spending my time petsitting and dogwalking next to my studies and jobs while living in Germany, Australia and Denmark. I am equally skilled scratching dog butts in between long walks as I am lying on the ground blinking slooowly to make scared cats feel at ease. I offer dogwalking as well as dog- and catsitting, and am always up for tug of war games or hiding stinky treats behind chair legs. I am used to giving basic medical attention such as eye drops and oral medication for example. If you have a young and energetic dog that still has to learn a few basic skills or a nervous cat that requires a lot of patience, I will be able to adapt to their needs. You'll get regular updates and pictures of your fluffy baby/ies and can enjoy your holidays or be productive at work while I clean cat toilets or scoop up dog poop at the park. Your pet will be well taken care of! I moved to Barcelona with my partner for his job and would love to brighten my new life here with some furry love since our place doesn't allow pets. On an entirely selfish side, it would help me explore the city and get to know locals :) I will be able to communicate mainly in English/German/French/Luxembourgish with you (and your pets), since my Spanish is not very good yet.

Mirjam was super kind with Sky and remembered all the details about Sky’s personality from the first talk we had months ago. She also sent details on how Sky was doing and photos. Can only recommend in case you need someone to take care of your pet :)
Mirjam hosted my dog, Ollie, for 3 nights and was the best choice. Ollie takes a while to warm up to people and she won him over in no time. It was his first time staying with someone other than me or my family and she made me feel comfortable throughout the whole process - being mindful of his preferences & care, and with detailed daily updates, including the cutest pictures. I fully recommend Mirjam and will definitely book again with her in the future!
Ruby loved staying with Mirjam! She has great knowledge about dogs and quickly befriended Ruby. She took great care of her going for walks, giving treats and chilling together. Highly recommend and Ruby will definitely be visiting Mirjam again :)

Depending on your dog's physical abilities and the service you book, I will spend our time together walking/running/playing/relaxing outside and/or playing and cuddling at home. I will always try to explore any nearby parks, where they will be able to run with me or have a lot of interesting smelly stuff to explore. With cats, it very much depends on how interested they are in interacting with me. If your cat is not used to strangers, I will probably simply sit on the floor reading or singing to myself while throwing delicious snacks their way. If they are very curious and playful instead, I will see how good they are at doing somersaults! If in addition to your dog or cat you have more exotic pets needing attention, please let me know in advance what kind of care your pet needs, so that I can assess if I am the right person to take over their care. I am not squeamish, and have held a bunch of reptiles and spiders before. I do offer overnight care at your place, but I am very adamant at getting to know you and your pet first before the booking. Feel free to schedule at least one meetup beforehand. Overnight care includes feeding, walks and playtime of course. If you are interested in me as your petsitter, I'd love to get to know you :) x Mirjam

I am used to give topical or oral medication to pets and keep an eye on any kind of allergies/physical impairments etc. Please let me know about your pet's health status and needs, and don't forget to give me your vet's contact number as well.
A typical day
I try to adjust my visits to each animal. If you have an energetic pup, I will make sure to spend some time meeting both their physical and mental needs with lots of walking / jogging / jumping / sniffing games and of course cuddles, preferably in one of the many parks in the neighbourhood. If you have a scared cat, I will spend lots of time slowly introducing myself to them and gaining their trust with snacks and patience.

Availability
I am working as a freelance designer and ceramicist from home and a local community studio, and am very flexible in organising my workload and daily schedule both on weekdays and weekends - one of my favourite ways to spend my lunch breaks is outside with a doggo and the day is best ended with an evening walk as well ;)
