At Comet's Haven, your dog will have fun and be well cared for while you are away. I am an experienced pet owner with many years of dog rescue and obedience training experience. I work outside the home, but telework some days, and enjoy staying around the house most of the weekend. I try to schedule most of my dog boarding when I expect to be home for all but a couple of hours each day, but if our visitor stays longer and is here during the work week there are days when the dogs will be at home without company for the full work day, sometimes with a dog sitter or other family member coming in to take the dogs for a potty break, but not always. My single family house has a huge fenced yard for playtime, and I also live a few blocks from Potomac Overlook Park, which has miles of hiking trails. My Springer Spaniel "Comet" is with me only part of the time. He is an active 2 year old who loves to play with other dogs. My rescue lab mix "Niki" is here all the time. She is a large, settled, but spry 7 year old who loves other dogs but is more interested in hanging out than running around. I have more flexibility in the number and types dogs I can board when Comet is not here, so my availability and the set up for sleeping, playing in the house, etc. may vary depending on this situation and the visiting dog(s). My dog-loving preteen daughter also enjoys playing and snuggling with our visitors, as does my college age daughter when she is home on break. For senior dogs I have the capability to keep them on one level with only one step down to get to the backyard. I am willing to cater to more complicated special diets if needed and can administer medication, as well as refreshing and reinforcing basic obedience training if desired. Dogs must be reliably housebroken and friendly toward children and other dogs. Dogs must be crate trained and be OK being left without human company for at least several hours.
