I grew up in a house full of animals - chickens, ducks, cats, rabbits, tortoises, and of course a dog. We had a shih-tzu/poodle cross called Lucky who is the closest thing a dog can be to a teddy bear. He kept me company while I was a teenager, providing much needed walking breaks during my A-level revision, and he still excitedly (sometimes too excitedly) welcomes me home whenever I go back. More recently, for a year or so I lived with my in-laws and helped look after their lurcher pup called Bute, who - as anyone who’s ever met a lurcher will know - is absolutely bonkers. I loved having a dog that could match my energy level on a walk or a run, but could also snuggle in with the TV on! We formed a very strong bond, and I always look forward to seeing her when I go round. From small docile teddy bear dogs to big energetic wolf-like dogs, I love them all!
