Pet care experience
I grew up feeding and walking dogs in my neighborhood until my parents adopted a border Collie named Lulu when I was 10. We continued to adopt rescue dogs for years, and after high school I got a job caring for sick and boarded dogs and cats at a local animal hospital. After moving off to college, a 2 year old stray followed me home from class one day. I was unable to find her owners, so I adopted her. Maggie and I were best friends for 16 years. We went everywhere together, including my work, until she past away last winter at 18 years old. I’m still healing from the loss. One day I’ll be ready to adopt another pup. For now I live, care for, and sleep beneath two lovely adopted cats, Juju and Carl. I’m excited for the opportunity to help folks who have to be apart from their furry loved ones have the peace of mind that comes from experienced reliable loving care.

I am lllike’s mom so I know a lot about him and his love for all creatures but especially dogs. We always had dogs and lllike helped to raise and care for them. As a college student he took in a stray who was his constant companion for seventeen years. I would leave our dog with lllike without concern, knowing she would be safe and comfortable while having a lot of fun.
Mike did a great job taking care of my Aussie shepherd, Rocko, when we needed a walker. Rocko can be a little naughty, but Mike was able to handle him with care and rewarded good behavior.
Mike has been such a great caregiver for our dog in the past. We are sure to vet anyone new with our sweet doggie, and Mike just seemed to fit the bill perfectly. You can tell he truly has an animal lover's heart. Everything we hoped for in someone to care for our pup while we're away. Will definitely continue to utilize his services into the future.
My dog is the love of my life and there are few people I trust to care for him. He is 16 years old, one-eyed, blind, significantly disabled, and an arthritic, insulin-dependent diabetic. In short: not an easy dog to care for. Mike has been a lifesaver - responsive, thoughtful, caring, communicative, and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure I feel informed and secure about my pup’s wellbeing. Basically, someone I trust to care for my boy the same way I do when I’m not working. I truly cannot recommend him highly enough!

Due to limitations with my current lease, I am currently focused on providing drop-ins and dog walking services, though I hope to be able to offer boarding services in the future. Beyond your pet’s basic needs, I strive to provide your pets with the attention and companionship I want for my own non-human family when we have to be apart.
Information Mike H. would like to know about your pet
More information is better than less. I love to know about your special needs as well as their preferences and personality quarks. I’m not here to provide every pet with the same experience. I’m here to give every pet what they need.
A typical day
I strive to provide more than the basic necessities a pet needs. We all need stimulation and companionship. When I’ve been away from my pets I want to know they are getting fed and walked, but also that they FEEL cared for. That’s the experience I strive to provide as a caretaker. Every pet is different, but whether I’m sitting and petting an elderly cat or playing ball with a young dog, it’s important to me to leave a visit with your pet feeling cared for, and fulfilled.

My wife works in government and we recently moved back to D.C. for her work. Pet care is currently my primary gig. I play music and make art so pet care is a great way for me to maintain a flexible schedule.
