On-Call Dog Sitter/ Walker

Pet care experience

I am training my Sheepadoodle puppy to work as a service dog through Dog Academy. He is already potty trained to go outdoors only. I also trained him to ask to go outside by ringing the bell or barking to get my attention. He is socialized very well to be around other dogs and people. When we go on walks I ensure to keep a good pace allowing him plenty of interaction with grass patches but we also train outdoors by practicing different commands. I watch a variety of instructional dog training videos through my membership with Buddies, Dog Academy and YouTube which keeps me up to date with new training methods for my dog and others. I’ve learned how to administered oral medication, injections and dog cpr. I am use to working with pets with disabilities as well. I use the rewarding system which involves command, clicker and tastey treats to keep his attention on our training. I love nature and being outdoors and I connect very well with dogs. On our walks, I like to stay active and keep my paw friends engaged and exercised. If permissible, I take my pup with me on walks with my client’s paw buddies so they can socialize. I use my leash belt and I hook the pups on and we vibe out. I have been a dog lover and owner since I can remember. I have a lot of experience with different breeds and I know how to care for their needs. I also use meditation music, training clickers and treats to keep pups engaged and comfortable.

This is our second time having Michelle help our pups while we're away. She took care of them the same as we would (if not better!). She communicated often and was so incredibly helpful!

Michelle is calm and nurturing, she takes such good care of my puppy! She even taught him to go down the stairs he was afraid of previously. It gives me peace of mind know that she is taking care of him on days I have to go into the office.

Michelle was Great! She was able to help us out at the last minute. We were going to be away for the day and needed someone to walk Buster and she responded quickly that she was available. She walked Buster and sent me a bunch of pictures. I would definetly hire her again!

We just had Michelle watch our dog Charlie over spring break. I was super nervous because Charlie is so old, but her time with him put me completely at ease. She was prompt, professional, and gave frequent updates/photos. She also went above and beyond with things she didn’t need to do like grabbing packages and making sure other miscellaneous things were taken care of during her visits. It always causes my husband and I anxiety trying to find pet care when away, but Michelle really brought us some relief. Our family will be using her again and recommend her for your pet!

As a dog walker/lover/owner it is important to always supervise all fur babies when they are outside of their crate or sleeping area. For puppies, they must be under constant supervision in order for them to remain safe and not cause damage to property. I also understand that they must go outside to relieve themselves often to ensure no accidents in the home. When we are on walks I ensure the leash is hooked on to the collar so that there are no incidents of running off or being injured by cars. I typically do not allow strangers to pet my paw friends unless they ask permission or the pup feels comfortable. I am also comfortable working in homes with video surveillance and advanced locking systems. I also like to provide alot of video and picture updates for my clients so they know what I’m doing at all times with their pets.

Information Michelle R. would like to know about your pet

Let me know what your paw baby requires so that we are in sync. I will follow your instructions to the T. Also, once we are booked please provide info on how to gain access into your home. I will lock up after and I’m comfortable with ring cameras or other surveillance devices. I also recommend paw parents to leave keys in lock boxes so your home is secure. I will provide you pictures that I locked up. For walks- please provide doggie potty bags/treats/harness/raincoat/balls. For drop in visits- clear instruction as to what you need me to do and items for your fur babies that are easy to locate. Also please leave our cleaning supplies and extra bedding so I can clean up any accidents. Doggy daycare- when you drop off your pup just bring kibble, harness, favorite toys, raincoat (as needed). I will make sure to send everything back to you at pick up. Let me know drop off and pick up times. General Info- Please let me know if your pup is better alone (1 on 1) or are they good with other dogs. I often bring my pup along for the walks so if your dog needs special attention let me know. Do they have any triggers that scare them or make them react. I prefer all my pet parents to give me a copy of the schedule they follow so all the information is available for me to follow. What types of treats they can eat. Let me know if your dog sheds. Also if there are any disabilities I need to be aware of. Thank you and I look forward to caring for your paw baby!!

A typical day

Please let me know how to gain entry into your residence and any instructions I need to follow :) For walks- I typically go to the park or use walking trails if you live by it. I will also walk in your neighborhood. Please provide instructions of favorite places they like to visit. We are actively walking and I allow exploration and sniffing grass patches for mental stimulation. I provide water for cool down and I put the AC on for hot days and heat for cold weather. I bring potty bags to clean up after fur babies. If there is an empty dog park that we can use I typically let my paw friends run wild so they can get plenty of exercise. For walks please provide collar, leashes, toys (if needed), and potty bags. Drop in visits- I am available to feed your pup, provide playtime, and if you have a yard I will let them out for potty. If you need me to take them on a walk around the house I can do that as well. Please provide collar, leashes, toys, potty bags, cleaning supplies for accidents, food and bowls. Leave it in a visible area that’s easy to find. I also offer doggy daycare since I have been home full time. I will take your pup out 3 times for potty breaks and walks, feed, water, provide playtime, nap time, and comfort when they are with me. I will provide video/picture updates. I do have my own pup so please dog friendly pups only. I have a extra crate, covers, towels, bowls, leash, toys, and emergency medicine kit for pups. I would just need you to bring kibble, treats, favorite toys, collar. Please non-shedding dogs only and dogs that do not destroy furniture or hard wood floors.
