Your dogs new best friend:)

Pet care experience

I’ve cared for a variety of dogs, some as tiny as a Chihuahua and some as large as a Great Dane! I have experience with special needs dogs. I often dog sit for my sister who has a 3-legged Yorkie. She needs assistance getting into bed and going up stairs or steep inclines. It’s taught me to be more selective in the locations I chose to walk her and to be more aware of the actions I would need to take incase of emergency. I’ve noticed she trips over herself easily when spooked, so I personally trained her to walk directly next me to keep her within reach. I allow her to roam more freely in safer areas. I also dog sit for my uncle who has a senior dog approaching her end of life. She is both deaf and blind, so she requires more supervision. She knows her way around the house really well but she can still loose her bearings easily, so I’m always extra attentive and help guide her when needed. I grew up with dogs and have experience raising puppies. I’ve attended obedience courses and have learned the most effective ways of teaching obedience with positive reinforcement. A list of basic commands I’ve successfully taught to dogs include: sit, down, come, stay, heel, off, leave it, drop it, take it, speak, paw, and look at me. I’ve also taught my families German Shepard, Lily, some pretty special tricks. Lily knows how to check the mail and bring it inside straight to my mom at her computer desk. She also knows how to bring in the newspaper for my dad at the kitchen table. I even taught her how to place her food bowl on the kitchen counter for my mom to refill during meal times. Both of my parents are getting older in age and my mom is disabled, so they have a hard time performing tasks around the house that require them to bend over or go down the porch stairs. Teaching Lily these commands helps them continue to care for her even with their limited mobility.

Michelle is amazing!! You can tell she loves her job, animals, and developing a caring relationship for your fur baby like she would her own. I can't say enough great things about Michelle, and the care she provides for my two dogs. Like many pet owners, my dogs mean the world to me and it takes a lot for me to trust someone with them. She is extremely professional, responsible, and caring. She is very flexible and reliable and has made my life much easier. I highly recommend Michelle to anyone looking for a dog walking service.

My high-energy great dane and chocolate lab absolutely adore Michelle. She is fun and playful while also encouraging good behavior. Training is important to me since I have big dogs that could easily overpower someone. She reinforces our training and my dogs are much easier to walk with because of the consistency between us and Michelle as our dog walker. They love her so much.

Safety, trust & environment

I will care for your pets as if they were my own. Should we come across any dangers on our walks I will protect them and provide immediate assistance. I’m a USMC veteran and trained to react in emergencies. I understand dog behavior and know what actions to take to prevent unwanted encounters. I can spot signs of aggression and can tell if your dog wants more space. I’ve worked with dogs who have anxiety and they might not feel completely comfortable around strangers. On our walks, if a passerby wants to interact with your dog but your dog is telling me they want space, I can create a barrier between your pup and the strangers to prevent any unwanted interactions. This will keep your dog feeling safe and they learn to trust that I am capable of providing safety. Building trust with your dog will help ease an anxiety they have surrounding me as their new dog walker. I aim to form a good, solid relationships with your dogs. I encourage clients to schedule meet and greets with me before our first booking. Meet and greets can take up to 30 minutes long and I prefer to meet in a public setting. We can discuss any concerns during our meet and greet and I’ll get the chance to meet your adorable fur babies! If we agree we’re a good fit for each we can follow through with the booking and after our first session, I can offer regular services.

Information Michelle P. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your dog has any special needs or behaviors I need to account for. For example, if they’re deaf/blind or if they impulsively chase after squirrels. All breeds are welcomed!

A typical day

I love to stimulate your dogs mentally and physically. We’ll get in plenty of exercise. I’m a pretty good judge of a dog’s physical fitness, so I’ll adjust the activities based on their needs. I can take it easy on the older ones who just need to keep their bodies moving. I can also wear out those little balls of energy who might be wearing on your nerves at home! If your dog engages in destructive behavior at home, they likely just need more stimulation throughout their days. Having a dog walker can help provide that for them when you find yourselves too busy or just want a break! My favorite thing to do is drive to a nearby dog-friendly nature trail. My fur friends get to explore new areas, sniff new smells, and socialize more with the community! We can schedule longer walks for any taking place outside the neighborhood. Dog need to be already comfortable with car rides before I accept any bookings of this nature.

Availability

I am currently working part time as a housekeeper Monday through Friday. My schedule usually varies every week so it’s hard for me to share my availability, but requests are always welcomed! I can usually accept any walks or drop ins throughout the week if it’s after 5 PM. Sometimes I only have one house to clean in a given day so I may be able to accept requests at earlier times. My schedule will always show I’m unavailable on working days because the app doesn’t allow me to open up time slots. If you’d like to schedule a booking on a day that shows I’m unavailable, just shoot me a message and we’ll see if we can work it out! I accept same day bookings and have a lenient cancellation policy to try to keep my schedule as flexible as possible for the client. I am new to Rover, so I won’t be offering any housesitting services until I’m more familiar with booking clients, but I do intend to include that service in the future.
