Dr. Pet Extraordinaire

Pet care experience

Hi! I’m a huge animal lover, and I’m involved in rescue and have been since I was a child. I’ve always had dogs and cats and I adore them as family members. I am here to take my love of animals and my skill with critters and turn it into a side job that adds joy to my days. Because college freshman and middle schoolers can try me (just kidding!). Over the years, many people have noted how animals take to me, even the most timid or scared for whatever reason trust me more quickly. I am extremely patient, soft spoken, firm when needed, fair- which I believe animals sense and recognize just as much as kids, and I have a presence that people and animals find comforting. I am unafraid of animals and over the years, I have never hesitated to work with even the most scared and aggressive-seeming dogs and cats. I know how to handle such animals, I seem to be able to find and be what they need. All that being said, I’m here to be whatever service provider you need for your pets! Whether someone to walk your dogs, house sit them while you’re away, have a firm conversation with them about not stealing the steaks off the counter (I teach. I’m a firm conversation pro, and sometimes you have to call in someone- takes a village, lol), I can take your cat on dates, or your dog, visiting parks and having special picnics. I’m here to work and make money (teaching is everything! Except lucrative lol) by doing these jobs that bring me joy.

Michelle was fantastic! She took great care of our pups and routinely dropped in to check on them. We really appreciate her and would definitely hire her again!

Information Michelle P. would like to know about your pet

Temperament, things that cause them fear or make them feel insecure, and timid behavior, allergies and medical conditions, diet and medicine, and Mom and/or Dad’s rule for the dog. I am firm and consistent, getting a day with Auntie Michelle doesn’t mean the discipline you have worked hard with your dog to learn stops. It just means Auntie Michelle may sneak a couple more treats than Mom or Dad might…

A typical day

I’m down for anything that your pet finds entertaining!! With my dog, here’s a typical day: I love to take Oxford to local parks for hikes and walking around lakes and such. Let him sniff everything, test the water if they’d like. I even have common animal sounds on my phone to “hype” my dog for our outing- my Oxford is obsessed with ducks, so I play duck calls and he gets so excited! I always pack a picnic lunch date for my and my animal companion, which makes for adorable photos. Car rides are another must. I drive them with the sunroof open and windows safely lowered, buckle the pup in, put on happy music, and take off for more rural parts of town. I know a farm that has friendly horses that like to come up to the fence line. So on car rides, I’ll make stops like “let’s see the horses,” and get the Oxford out of the car to investigate (safely, secured of course). Cows spotted? Let’s get out and take a closer look! Duck pond? Oh we must stop!

Availability

I have an extremely flexible schedule. I’m completely available (any day, any time, any gig!) throughout the holidays. Once school starts back up in January, I set my own schedule. Let me work with you! Also note, I am single and live alone, no kids, so my only focus would be your babies! As a house sitter, I just bring my grading, cat and dog toys, can do-can clean attitude, and my understanding that you want to be certain your babies are in great hands, cared for with much attention (and attention to detail!), but also that your home is safe and secure. I offer all those things!
