Loving Dog Care in family home
Pet care experience
I'm very dog-centered and want to make sure that your pet/s are happy and healthy. I treat them with loving care and respect and respond to their needs. I reinforce basic commands with positivity and healthy treats.
Reviews
Michelle was great with our lab Ziggy. He is very attached to us and has separation anxiety. Michelle was very patient and caring with him. Under her care, dogs get lots of outdoor time, exercise and love.
Michelle has been providing regular care for my puppy, starting at age 4 months old. She has been 100% reliable, easy to communicate with, flexible to our needs … and most importantly, she provides a safe, loving and FUN environment for my puppy! Her big dog, Elvin, is so gentle with my pup. My dog is always eager to go in and start her day there, and comes home nice and tired. :)

I live in Westwood Highlands, on Hazelwood, between Mangels and Brentwood. I do doggy day care (including overnight) and dog walks at/near my home. I have a 4 year old Shepard/Boxer 65 lb, Elvin, who is super socialized, good with puppies, other dogs and people. Elvin has about 80% command of the basics (come, sit, load, off, leave it, stay, let's go) and gets on well with other dogs. El is super patient with puppies. I have two-three dogs here max at a time. I have a spacious house and a 40x40 backyard that they run around in. There are 1-2 daily outings, which *may* include Ft Funston, Stern Grove, Glen Park, Upper Douglass and neighborhood walks. We can go on or off leash, depending on the dog. We are positive reinforcement only and use mimic behavior or treat motivation (chicken breast, lamb sticks, nothing fancy but not junk food). Elvin is pretty happy go lucky so if there are preferences/dislikes, let me know and we can work it out.

Information Michelle L. would like to know about your pet
In general, let me know about your pets likes and dislikes; I'll do my best to get to know them. Also, what is your preference for on or off leash? I am aware of separation anxiety behaviors (for both human and dog) but if there's something in particular your pet needs, let me know. I do take snaps of the dogs (probably too much!) so can send pics if you'd like.
A typical day
I try to read the energy of the dog and keep a balance of activity and rest and somewhat of a routine depending on which dogs are staying with us. If we're indoors, we take backyard breaks every hour and/or go on sniff walks. We have a variety of toys (balls, tug, snuffle mat) and we have large bones to chew on (if appropriate for the dog). Tug of war, fetch (even in the house!) and belly rubs are great fun. If your dog is a snuggler, I'll give them a lot of affection. If they prefer to be on their own, I give them space. There are a variety of outings that we do based on the dogs are staying with us.

Availability
I take my dog Elvin on one - two daily outings (Funston, Stern Grove, Great Highway, Balboa). He and I also go on neighborhood block walks where we sniff away. Our day starts at 6.30 am and it's lights out at 11.30 pm. When we have dog pals staying with us, we have a ton of fun and action, but also have rest time so no one gets stressed.
