Pet care experience
I have had dogs nearly my entire life! I have always loved dogs and research various breeds to learn about activity levels, how social or non-social, specific health concerns to each particular breed, and also consistently adding breeds to the long list of dream dogs I will one day adopt once I purchase my "doggie ranch". Snickers, a super-tiny Chihuahua, was my Dad's service dog when he was alive. Imagine that? Snickers would actually bark at my Dad when he had high or low blood pressure and in danger of falling! Amazing! I inherited Snickers in 2009 when my Father passed away. He has been in the family ever since (always with me until my sister recently wanted a "turn")! Caring for Snickers has been an educational experience in the dental hygiene department for small breed dogs. Coordinating the dental care so closely relates to what type of food he was eating. I found that a special blend for small breed, senior dogs who tend towards allergies, was the best fit for him. The curious thing about each dog I care for, is how distinctly different each one is from each other, even of the same breed. Just like us! I find it essential to be VERY attentive, as these sweet hearts don't have words to express their needs. They need smart humans who can understand "doggie language", and what things to watch out for in regards to tendencies, customary challenges or potential emergent health situations. It is often us humans who need the training, and not our fabulous furry family members. ;) Pablo, the Great Dane, has to be one of my most kindred spirited dogs I have ever cared for! I think Great Dane's might be my favorite breed. It's so hard to have only ONE favorite! The Greats certainly have their own set of special care being such a large breed dog. Traditionally with hip issues and being sure to watch for "Bloat" are essential. Diet is very important as well to keep the coat and pigmentation (of eye area), and glands of the Dane happy. These dogs are the gentle giants, but as pups, and even as adults, an assertive and trained for large breed dogs is important in keeping everyone safe and sound. :) From super-tiny, to huge-large breed dogs, I have cared for and loved all the same....just like I would for my kids. My children have excellent experience with both large and small breed dogs, and have had excellent bonding experiences with each, as well as training opportunities. I look forward to loving on your "baby/s" too! Cheers!
Reviews
Dexter and Esme had so much fun with Michelle that they didn't want to go home at first. Will continue to use Michelle and highly recommend.
This was our first time using Rover, and we had a fantastic experience with Michelle. We were easily able to schedule a meet and greet before hand, and she was in constant communication with us before and during Bodhi's stay with her. She sent us lots of pictures and updates, and I could tell that Bodhi was very happy being there. Michelle loved him, and knowing that my dog is having a great time while he is away from us makes it so much easier. We are glad to have him back home with us again, but if we ever need a sitter again, we would not hesitate to contact Michelle again through Rover. Thanks, Michelle!
Brody's stay with Michelle went great!! Great pics during his stay, definitely recommend her!
Nancy had a great stay with Michelle. Michelle kept us up-to-date with photos and texts and took really good care of Nancy.
