I have owned dogs for over 40 years along with a cat for aprox. 20 of those. I am retired navy. I believe animals respond better with Love, kindness and positive training techniques, as well as plenty of kisses and snuggles. I believe Animals know more than we give them credit for and I talk to them like do to babies and toddlers. I have completed the "Fear Free Training program" with Blue Ridge Humane society - 6 hours of power point videos and questions to identify the many ways that fear, frustration, anxiety and stress can reveal itself- and how to address and reduce them. I also completed The Fear Free Pet behavior symposium with SPCA (RACE certified): 6 hours online covering Separation issues, Training and enrichment, and tips for new adoptions- along with 30 min Q&A with the veterinarian Doctors and animal behaviorists presenting the symposium. Fear free happy homes .com is a wonderful website full of free information for all pet owners <3 Ive never met an animal I didn't Love <3 . I believe each animal has its own temperament and since I am an empath, I try to 'read' each animal to get a feel for their comfort level , how they feel and what they need or like. I am a hands on- on the floor playful kind of caretaker and very much look forward to your pet being very overjoyed to spend time with me, and I with them. My friends call me the dog whisperer. :) **** Important scheduling Info: Prior to scheduling /booking - please read * I am not set up for full time over a long term. I am your 'back-up' - "while on vacation" - 'emergency sit' - 'pop-in' - 'weekend sit' - 'fill in while regular sitter is away' - 'special occasion' . I can maybe do 2-3 days a week depending on location, #of dogs, and time of day, etc. Each situation is different and schedules change so I like to review each request individually. *ALSO: * Last minute request to sit are not recommended as I beleive it is important to allow time for a stress free "meet and greet" with owners and pets. This includes time with your pet feeling relaxed , at home, and not anxious knowing you are leaving. Your pets (as well as you) must feel comfortable, trusting , happy and 'Fear Free' with full confidence in me and your pet to receive the best care possible while ensuring the best experience for all concerned. For overnights longer than 3 and to include 4. (add $25) I will usually add on after 3 and including a 4th day where I have to make more considerations for my own packing and food - and trips to my home (laundry/plants/mail) . The level of work, care, concern and attention I pay to your home and your pets - do not dissipate over additional days- I am consistent, very responsible and take my duties very serious.
