Pet care experience
Hi, I'm Michele! I'm a 32 year-old blogger and receptionist living in Detroit. I've spent the last 13 years of my life working in the pet industry and I've loved every minute of it. I began volunteering for a dog rescue in Madison Heights when I was 17. After 2 years I was promoted to manager. At the age of 21, I moved on to pet retail. After a short time as a cashier, I went through the certification process and spent over 6 years as an Accredited Pet Trainer. I've also worked as a receptionist/manager at dog daycares and vet clinics. I have two dogs of my own, one of which is special needs and takes multiple medications daily. I have experience administering oral, topical, and injectable medications. I've also completed a canine first aid course, including CPR and Heimlich training. I have held accreditations in dog training and would also love to help with positive reinforcement training in your home. I offer dog walking, drop in, and pet/housesitting services for dogs and cats. I have experience with exotics, including reptiles/amphibians, small animals, insects/arachnids, and birds - pricing may vary depending on the service, so let me know ahead of time if you have any special roommates. All overnight stays for your dog include at least one walk per day and plenty of mental and physical stimulation. I'd love to talk about your pets' individual needs ahead of time and all efforts will be made to reasonably accommodate your family's regular schedule. Please speak to me about setting up daily or weekly appointments to fit your schedule.

Unfortunately I hired Michele to Watch my dogs and I soon realized she wasn’t up for the job. She claimed my dog bit her in the face and she just left my house while we were out for the evening until the following morning. The rover report stated that storm in fact did not bite her in the face. This could have been handled. She could have separated the dogs, offered treats and let my dog do her thing for the night. But she bailed. Super disappointing. As a dog sitter I believe you should have experience with bigger dogs (if you’ve stated you do) and learn how to navigate around these situations. I felt awful immediately after hearing about said “bite” but once I spoke with rover they assured me that wasn’t the case. Sorry for the one star, but if someone’s out of town and all you gotta do is watch their dogs for one night, don’t just bail.
Michele was great! She sent regular updates and caught and dealt with a leaking dishwasher! So grateful she was there. Dogs and house were very well taken care of while we were gone. Will definitely use Michele again!
Michele is the most amazing and wonderful person to take care of animals. She is very sweet compassionate and understanding and very knowledgeable and reliable about animals care. She help me with how to train my two dogs. I can go to her for anything.
Michele Absolutely loves all animals, especially dogs. She is the most responsible and reliable person to take care of your dogs. She will treat your dog(s) like they were here own.

Information Michele R. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know of any medical conditions or special needs your pet has, including medical sensitivities, medication, or fears. I also find it very helpful to understand what issues you may be having with your dog (pulling on the leash, chasing cars/bikes, potty training) so we can be on the same page in offering consistent, positive influences for your pet.
A typical day
I love being outside and active, so hikes and walks exploring Metro Detroit are my favorite. I like to hit the dog-friendly cafes in Ferndale or take on the Riverfront in Detroit. I also love playing fetch and exploring new burrows. I also love a good snuggle session, so less active or senior dogs who want to hang out on the couch and watch a movie, or lay in the grass in the yard are more than welcome.
