I was the kid who wasn’t allowed pets and started walking neighbours dogs at the age of 7. I started with 2 unwalked , excited labradors who certainly taught me the importance of recall! I soon had a round including a husky and a collie. Looking at it now I think many experienced dog walkers would think twice about taking that little lot. Things were a bit more relaxed in the 80’s 😅 I currently live with my large male dog Buddy, he a lovely dog, half Labrador half German shepherd. He absolutely loves smaller dogs and is very good natured so your boy/ girl would be in good company. At home they’d have free rein of the house and a fully enclosed rear garden, and any boarding would also include coming on a minimum of 2 walks a day. Buddy loves an adventure so we often head to the beach or to the countryside, or many of the lovely places we are spoilt with in Bristol. I’m very competent with dogs, people have always remarked how I have ‘a way’ with them. I pride myself on making my sitting / walking service all about the dogs. Hence insisting on a meet a greet prior to any boarding and always heading on a walk to start any dogs stay. A sure fire way to have a happy doggy household is to do that before anything else. Also it means I’ll be reading the body language etc to make sure your pooch is happy and content. There’s plenty of opportunity for cuddles and reassurance but also that a not what every dog necessarily wants. The day really will be all about the dogs.
